I was thinking the top bezel would set the alarm.
Possible...But exposed to unwanted manipulations and not anymore available for "dive watch timing".
He created a regulating bezel-back as he didn't want that the time could be affected by any unwanted shock/push/grab on the bezel...
You could have a bezel lock system like the Glycine Lagunare/PloProf and it would work.
