 cut out/removed quick release pins from a strap??

Can you just snip the protruding release pin with some wire cutters and remove it??

I purchased a Hirsh Mariner strap (sweet strap BTW) and it obviously wont work on the Orsa silver angler. I have it on the Vixa Chrono.

Advise???TIA
