Bummer, Sean. I had a '63 Ghia about 40 years ago. I loved that car till the engine blew up in August 1967 while crossing the Arizona desert on my way back from leave to MCSC Barstow. My parents spent $500 to have a rebuilt engine installed (I was just a "poor" 19 year-old Marine).
I hope you can salvage yours - - it looks like it was in really nice shape.
Hard to keep those air cooled engines running in the AZ desert in August! $500 was a whole months pay for a 1LT back then.
