It is very funny when I went  to boot camp. I was 17 years old and the day was Saint Patrick's day in 1979. I was in Great Lake ILL. I was very scared I was a long hair surfer/skate boarder from CA. MY first thought was I was getting away from my dad. My Mom sent me to live with him and his new wife all of 7 years older then I. I lived in Randolph NJ at the time. As Jr in HS we went on a field trip to NY as a class to check out different colleges and career day plan our life out.

Well that was boring so I walk around the city and found a pub.Guess what I found a few sailor's on leave. My friend and I talk and drank and played darts. Yes drank NY at the time drinking age was 19.

We back to bus and then too school, we went a little buzzed and then I new!!! I wanted to get tattoo and see the world. I really did not know what I was getting into. I told my mom in CA and then my dad. He said no mom said yes. So off I went.

So off I went to boot camp.. I got there at midnight and had to wake up at three am. Heck it took us 2 hrs just to get to bed, I think when they hit the garbage can over my rack that made me def for the rest of the week. My hair was gone my cloth's had been put into a box and now yes. I had to wear bell bottoms not to bad bell bottom's had been in style out on the west coast. I found out a tooth brush is not for just your teeth. It clean many items which if I listed you might just get sick. PS at graduation I had a seagull drop a very pretty surprise on me in my dress blues.....

A school was training we needed to go before we had been sent off to our duty station. That was in Tennessee. I fell in love with a southern bell her daddy pointed a shotgun and said you get married to my girl or I will kill you... TRUE STORY.. I went back to base and did not leave to I was shipped out... Shootgun weddings back then had been a true and scary issue to Navy boy in Millington Tenn.

I was on leave then and I got phone call and orders to report too Washington ASAP. My first duty was on the carrier off to Iran.  Iran took hostages. When we got there we had loaded every A-6 fully loaded with bombs missiles. Max loaded and then we had Nuc' on stand by. I was a scared kid.. After that, everything in my life became very small. It is a scary thing when you are ready to kill hundreds if not thousand of kid's mothers Father's and other alive things. I did not sign up for another tour I felt that I was never again willing to kill humans. I do understand er need to  stand up for what is right!!

Today I ended up being a Nuclear weapon team leader. What a scary thought. To this day I feel very strong if we attacked then and killed Khomeini and ended it correctly we would not have the issues we have today..

I hope you all enjoyed my story as I wrote it. It has been a long time since I told it. I do not ever want us and a main power to ever use any Nuclear weapon ever!!! I am Anti Nuc now and still have bad dreams about that day.

Goodnite or goodmorning have a good day
