What a small world! I was also with Mike Company, 3rn Bn. 4th Marines from Oct 16, 1967 to June 1, 1968. We spent the majority of our time in "Leatherneck Square" ...the southern part of the DMZ in I Corps and out West of Khe Sanh when the NVA came back to the area in April-May of 1968. Members of my Platoon were awarded the Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, 3 Silver Stars and 4 Bronze Stars for heroism during that period of time. Truly the finest group of people I have ever had the honor of associating with. My heart still aches for those we lost or who were so badly wounded. By extension, I am very concerned with our activities and exposure in combat today. The Army and particularly the Marine Corps do a superb job to get our people ready for each tour, but I have wondered since the begining about the legitimacy of our role over there. To those who have gone before, those I had the honor of fighting with and those in harms way today I give my deepest respect. Don Rait former Captain of Marines
