Hiya Crazy Cajun The red valve is part of the Helium release mechanism. PloProf is the shortened nickname for "Plongeur Professionale" which, when translated from French means "Professional Diver". The watch was made famous by the French inventor of the S.C.U.B.A. - the venerable Mr Jacques Cousteau. It is the watch he wore during many of his famous divinfg adventures. It is a bit of an icon nowadays. Scuba Steve put me onto the Ocean 7 website, where a tribute watch almost identical in overall form to this one is being considered. That site is well worth a look! If you want one - they are even taking pre-orders to see if it is worthwhile going into production. Cheers! IanM
