 Oscar I spent my teen years in Alabama. Age 12 to 18 and use to see those all the time. As young boys my older brother and I use to catch crickets and grasshoppers and toss them in the web and watch these big spiders go to work. Very big and strong webs.

They will take care of many flying pest for you. They are in the family known as orb weaver spiders I think it's called. Very interesting to watch. ;)
