I had a set of Fibes drums back in the 80's my Pops got rid of. He did give me the cash though!!
Anybody remember the Fibes? Wicked fiberglass drums that really snapped. I had the snare on my primary kit (Premier) and that was one deep dish snap-a-roo!!
Sure do Pax, I have a custom made Fibes snare drum that I bought off a friend back in the early '80's (6 1/2x 14 with Ludwig hardware and Super Sensitive strainer. It will take your head off, LOL) hand6.gif
My whole kit is Premier, ca. 1977 (14x24 kick/13/14/16 toms), and the one I use with the band that belongs to the singer is also Premier. I have a Slingerland brass snare along with the original Premier snare too (parallel action, I can't get snare wires for it anymore darn it).
Those Pearl Exports are sweet!
My younger son is now taking drums at school. He came home with a Yamaha student snare, pretty nice for a beginner drum. I'll never understand why they start them off with big sticks though (5B). I have used 5A my entire time - 28 years now, and I have played everything from metal to punk to pop to country. Never had a problem with a smaller stick.
