 Definitely get it back in running order and pass it down to your son.  I have an old Tudor "Rose" wristwatch that my grandfather wore everyday until he passed away and I would never ever sell that thing, even though it is much too small for me to wear.  Like people above said, you cannot put a price on sentimentality!
