It seems to be a combination of many very subtle factors that achieve this harmony. The hands are the thickest whitest element, making them pop off the dial. Simple, lumed baton hands, nothing fancy. Telling time is instantaneous at a glance. The arabic numbers are thinner and less "white" therefore they don't overpower the dial, the subdial hash marks and numbers and hands are so delicate and thin that they receed into the background, until you need them, then they are clear and crisp. Lastly, the chrono functions are all in orange, so your mind automatically differentiates those elements. The black day/date also help to calm the dial. After owning and trading so many watches over the past year and a half, I'm really starting to see what makes one watch work while another very similar watch doesn't. It all in the subtle details and design choices. srh_pres wrote: Yes, they crammed alot into that dial and yet its cleaner than others with less on them... hand6.gif
