I got the day off for Easter so I decided I check out a couple of high end retailers, to
see what's available. I've walked into Jewelery Shop "A". The sales lady approached me and I told her about my budget and the type of watch movement I was looking for.  She took out a watch, one from each major brand name.

There was a Longines Conquest Automatic Chronograph, Rado Original Diastar Automatic Diver, Tissot SeaStar Automatic 1000 and Couple of Omegas:

1) Seamaster Automatic
2) Seamaster Automatic Chronograph.

The Seamaster Chronograph, was on cosignment  for  $2,200. She calculated the taxes for me on each watch to assist me with my budget.

I introduced myself, she kindly smiled and did the same-she then handed me her business card. I walked away happy because she took her time to help me with my decision.

Jewelery Shop "B" I walked in there and the all the sales staff were talking amongst themselves. I walked over to the Porsche Design Display, staring at the watches for at least 10 minutes.  "May I help you?" a voice said behind me.  I turned around and the sales lady, walked up beside me. She pointed to a co-worker standing behind the display case to open it. "How much is this Porsche Design?"
"$3250 but there is a 40% discount." The lady standing behind the display case calculated the watch with both sales tax.

In a typical Chinese Salesmanship "Buy today and I'll include the taxes."
"Ok since I'm here let me take a look at the brand names to compare?" I kindly asked. "No, problem?" she answered.

I walked over to the Oris Display Case and the Jean Richard Display Case. By this time, I was left alone with no help from anyone. The next display was the Breitling and finally I walked out after 5 minutes. No business card, no thanks for coming in and no goodbye.

The sales lady from Store "A" was taking a break when I walked up.  " Any luck?" she kindly asked. "No, I went upstairs to see what's available but Store "B" the sales staff were reluctant to assist me. I walked away empty handed-not even a business card or a goodbye."

"Well at least you were kind enough to help with me and I sincerely thank you." I said to her.

"You're welcome, by the way I'm the manager of Store A, if you need anything please feel free to call me." She replied. "I will." I answered and went home.

The feeling I got from Store A, was that I was not being pressured in any way to buy.
Nothing is worse than an agressive salesperson, forcing you to make a purchase right at that minute.
