Another exciting F1 race today from Barcelona. Once again a large number of cars were lost to attrition. some from mechanicals, others from contact during wheel to wheel racing and one high speed crash in which the car speared into the tire wall, burying the driver and leaving only the tail section of the car exposed. McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen went nearly straight into the wall after a failure of his front left. He was knocked unconscious but did regain consciousness in time to wave to the crowd. He was helicoptered out but appears to have received no more than a concussion after his mishap. The Ferraris were out front all day and were the class of the race from the driver's and mechanical perspective. Ferrari really seems to be hitting stride and will get fresh engines for the next race in Turkey. The race featured another solid performance by Robert Kubica who finished P4. Mark Webber also ran a good race finishing fifth after qualifying in P7. The heavy attrition allowed Jenon Button, Kazumi Nakajima and Jarno Trulli to score points. all in all very entertaining and a good excuse to start the day early... and may be sneak in an afternoon nap! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
