For those unfamiliar with the Oceantimer, here are the particulars:
Case material is 316L SS
Movement is ETA 955.612 Quartz
Diameter is 42mm
Thickness is 14mm, same as Monster
WR rating is 400m
Crystal is sapphire
Crown is screwdown and 4mm in diameter
I'll begin by saying the watch is attractive on the wrist. The case and bezel are done in three different finishes: brushed, polished and bead blasted. All compliment each other nicely.
The dial on my watch is black and hands are white. The minute hand is bordered in red. The red finish is hard to describe because in certain lighting conditions, the red becomes barely noticeable. In other lighting conditions, the red shows up with a mirror like finish. Gotta see it to understand I guess. The face is uncluttered and easy to read. Always a nice feature in a diver IMO.
The second hand lands on the markers and the bezel lines up perfectly. The bezel turns smoothly in the standard counter-clockwise direction. There are sixty clicks rather than the 120 clicks found on the Divergraph. The bezel has just the right amount of resistance, unlike the Divergraph's bezel that turns too easily IMO.
I just removed three links from the bracelet so it'll fit my pipe cleaner sized wrists. The bracelet itself has a brushed finish and looks good on the watch. The bracelet is not as beefy as those on my Monster or Zilla.
I haven't had a chance yet to get a look at the lume yet, but I've read it is just okay...not on a par with Seiko or Citizen. (Since writing the previous sentence, I have had a chance to evaluate the lume and it's not very good. After 25 minute under a lamp, the lume lasted about 15 minutes and was dark thereafter. I guess if the watch needs work in some other area, I'll have it lumed again.)
The heft of the Oceantimer is similar to that fo the Seiko Monster.
The Oceantimer seems like good value with quality components and good fit and finish. I'll post some pics ASAP in a separate thread.
