It's 4:17 AM Pacific Time and I haven't been able to sleep due to the excitement of starting my new job on Tuesday morning--after spending the entire Sat. getting myself organized with planning and buying suits. For those who don't know what's been happening, I have quit my old job...due to circumstances that were beyond my control (Re: OT under Major Changes at Work). Simply put, I am no longer a cook (Chef) is the same thing. My new job title is Food and Beverage Director for a 4 Diamond Hotel,as of Tuesday. Now that I've got that out of the way. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has helped me in my watch buying decision with gratitude. Here is my game plan: After seeing the Daily Wrist Exam Thread. I was inspired by Pacific Chrono's passion for Vintage American Made watches i.e. Hamiltons, Gruen Curvex etc. I've went online and came up with a couple of 1940's-1950's Lord Elgins one Rectangle and one Round, both for $93 USD each. Next I've visited another website there I've found the following: 14 kt Solid Gold Lord Elgin with cal.559 21 Jewel hand wound movement for $279 14 kt Solid Gold Elgin De Luxe with cal.750-B 19 Jewel hand wound movement for $125 USD. The next two watches were Hamiltons: 1 x Perry 14 kt GF with cal.982 for $129 USD 1 x Lester 14 kt GF with cal.982 for $165 USD. 6 watches for an incredible value of $884 plus shipping. This is a far cry from a Sinn 103 A ST. but the way I looked at it either I spend $1,700 on one watch or I can get six vintage watches of the 1940-1950 in really gorgeous condition, for less than $1,000. However, my poor General Manager friend has only watch to wear every day. As for me I'll have six + 1 grandpa's watch to wear for each different day of the week. |
