It seems like most people here buy/sell watches through websites and I'm wondering if there are some that are very trustworthy and others that should be avoided. I'm not talking so much about ebay and craigslist, and/or secondray market forums. I'm talking more about online watch 'stores'

Does anyone have any comment on http://www.watchesonnet.com ? I recently came across then, the prices look great and they have some stuff I'm interested in?

Otherwise can anyone make any recommendations on stores to be avoided or stores that should be used (based on your experiences)??

Finally, is there any insurance when using your PayPal? A friend said that if you get scammed using PayPal your credit card company will insure you for the loss... does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks for your help and patience

I've never shopped that online store nore heard pos or neg info about them.

As for paypal see this.

As for credit cards you would need to ask them what is in place to protect your account. each one is different.

Over the past 5 years a good 99% of the watches I have bought have been online. I've never touched Craigslist and I quit using eBay 2 years ago when both my brother and a friend were screwed over.

As for other online stores best to just ask at the time if interest. Things can change by the day some times. I always look into any online store and if I don't know the person I am buying a watch from I get references from a reliable source. Praise on a forum "good guy" or someone I know of that has a good rep saying the person is OK.

I agree with Skip almost all the watches I buy I buy online, i think the last watch I bought at a real store was in 2001.

You can definitely trust anyone that advertises on this forum and would probably say the same for the advertisers on the other major forums.

Like Skip, never heard of the one you mentioned, probably a good idea to post a question on here if you have any concerns....if the website is something you should stay away from someone here will tell you, if not right in the thread, in a PM.

It also goes without saying, if the deal is too good to be true - it usually is. cat28.gif
