Byrd by Kobold What do you think about it?

10th anniversary celebration release.  It is a retro throw back design with a stamped dial and Breguet style hands.  I do not know anything else, but would be interested in any opinions.

It uses the 17 jewel 7760 and is $1650 + the standard $50 shipping.

Nice clean look and I love the column chrono wheels and that they did not butcher the numerals that were near the chrono dialshand6.gif

This case Kobold is using was made popular by the late Icko Wakmann founder of Wakmann Germany Watches and former Pres. of Relide Clock Company who used it in the 60'-70's with the same movement available in a 2 or3 register configuration...the case has since been used by many watch manufactuers....he was a true innovator and master watchmaker from Russia who made his home in Manhatton .....there is plenty online about him and Wakmann Watch if anyone is interested....see link belowhand6.gif

Shipping on it is $100, but it seemed to be a good enough deal to me.  That is all dependent on the amount of work that they put into the movement.  They tend to get them running close to spot on.

I think that is a very good price on a Kobold especially a LE of only 60!....it says the movement has the screwed glucydor balance wheel and nivarox mainspring and that is top of the line alone imho....another good enabler....TY E! yourock.gif

I'm not a chrono guy but I have to admit this is a nice clean looking dial layout and a very "pure" execution. Very nice indeed!Thumbsup3.gif

I looked through my ETA manuals and the main spring is the Nivaflex NO.  I do not believe that they ever installed the Nivaflex NM stock from ETA, but I am sure you could order it a while back.

Just a note to those that do not know, O. and I have gone over this in detail in the past, but Nivarox is the Co. and the name of the allow used in main springs and hair springs of most watches currently.

I am sure that the balance wheel is that Glucydur 3 arm that we all know and love.

The thing about KOBOLD is that they will take a movement and upgrade it with the best parts after they are done decorating it.  I would not be surprised if they put an Anachron hair spring in it.
