So, I've been looking around at some watches and found Vostok Europe. I looked around on several forums and couldn't find a lot of information about them. Apparently they are rather reliable, think ak-47 of the automatic movement world. Any word on their metal bracelets? solid? hollow? Any opinions? thanks!

Haven't had one on a bracelet but I have had two of their models and sold one off. I have been very pleased with the long term performance of my remaining VE Expedition 2006. Solid automatic Russians at a reasonable price.

I own several V-Es, probably around 15 of them.  They are very reliable, the movements are excellent....the interesting thing is the bracelets go from excellent to good...for example the bracelets on the Energia anf the Arktika are some of the best I've ever seen, screwed in links, heavy, etc. on the other hand the bracelet on the Maxim Gorky is a little lighter weight, no screws, etc., i wouldn't say it is a bad bracelet, just not as good as the other two....

All in all the V-Es are a great value for some really unique watches.  I will be buying another Energia within the next couple weeks.

They use to sell them on the old SAH (shop at home) network and ShopNBC has sold some too. But here is another good place and a place to drool over many Russian watches.

How do they look at night? Got any photos of the glow? I work a lot at night. So I like to have my watches readable.

This site is one of the best places to buy a Ruski. Craig is a pleasure to work with and the prices can't be beat.hand6.gifhand6.gif

Always good to hear good reviews of sites. Tough to know who's good and reliable.

Purchased some from SAH and most from R2A, Craig is one of the best guys in this industry to work with....also I think 3T members get a 10% discount....just send him an email, hewill respond immediatly.

Agree on the lume....almost non existent...the Energia is not bad for a few minutes but then fades

Funny you started this post Apeogre.  I just fell in love with the silver/blue Gas-Limo.  Seems to be an amazing watch for the price. I Sent an email to Craig at R2A to reserve one when it comes available (presently out of stock).  If I may Apeogre , i would like to ask some questions too. First , if any of you know that specific model and  how good are those movements?  I know that they have a huge tolerance of -20 to +40 sec a day  but can they be adjusted to keep good time?  The gas-Limo has a  Vostok caliber 2426 with a GMT function.  Also as for the lume, i was thinking they were using Superluminova so i was expecting it to be good, i guess the weakness comes form the application  or the grade they usemistake.gif.

I'm looking at those Russian watches for a wile now and find them kind of exotic with their mechanical movements, and afordable too, i'm sure i wont be disapointed!

Thx!

Daniel

Nabco, that Energia looks fantastic! hand6.gif It's on my wish list too, just don't know if i will go with Energia 1 or 2 ???

I have a Red Energia now, and it is one of my top 10 watches (out of about 150), really like the new version.  As previously mentioned these are very, very good watches.....i think the +/- 30 to 40 seconds a day is way off....i can say based on experience these watches do need a break in period, way more than a swiss automatic...they do work themselves in over a month or so and can be +/- 10 seconds a day in my experience

+/- 10 seconds doesn't seem too bad. As they are self winding, and I like to rotate my watches through, I figure I will haven't to reset the time on them. Or does anyone keep their auto's and watch winders all the time?
I like their Limo as well! Fantastic looking watch. Anyone have one that they can provide a review on?

-/+ 10 seconds is not bad at all. ;) I rotate my watches often. Some are on winders but fewer now than about 3 years ago. The older junk winders have died and I won't bother replacing them. My top end watches are on Orbita winders. But enjoy setting my watches and all. Just wound all my hand crankers this morning. WIS joys. :)

These are the videos that made me pull the trigger

I went for the silver dial with blue inner bezel.  This watch just looks fantastic and the price is ridiculous IMHO at $244 USD shipped for a GMT auto !!!

The only thing is that i sent an email to R2A yesterday morning and still haven't received any reply :?.  I get the message that they are out of the office...Anyhow, i sent my payment today and will wait for them to respond since they are out of stock and i want to know when that beauty will be shipped :D.

By the way, i used the 'TTT10' code and it worked just fine, thanks for the hint Paxman hand6.gif  The discount paid for shipping!

Have had a Vostok-Europe K-3 Submarine model.  A great "beater diver" for sure.

I now have the Expedition Trophy Orange 2009 watch.  Ordered it from Craig at Russia2.....great service.

Beautiful watch....much for the money, but I may flip this one soon as it doesn't get any wear.  (Nevertheless, I LIKE it!)

As far as price, service and quality of watch, Vostok Europe is a "best buy."

I bought a K3 blue dial when they first came out and gave it away soon after. Strap felt like it was made of cardboard so I put it on a neoprene. Bit of dross.

I own the energia in teal, and it is a great watch.....I was wearing it in a high end jewelery store last November while on vacation in Aruba, and the store owner asked me about it and had to handle it...

he was very impressed with it, and thought it was worth well over $1,500.00. I had bought it on JTV at less than $400.00

And this from a guy that has Zenith , Patek Phillipe, Hublot, Ball, etc., all over the store

I like the energia 2 edition, that Craig has on the site,  he also has a new model with gas tubes,  I can't pronounce the name let alone spell it, but they look real nice
