During lunch yesterday, I went for walk.
I took out my Hamilton pocket watch to look at the time
and I had mishap by having missed the inner pocket of
my suit jacket, while I was crossing the street.

Sadly the watch is beyond repair after a car
drove over it.

20/20 hindsight I should have placed a chain
that I had onto the watch.
It's heart breaking to see a magnificent timepiece
end up destroyed.

Grief stricken? Yes, to say the least.
On the other hand, life goes on and I am
looking forward to the Zenith Grand Prix
and the English Fusee-Lever Pocketwatch.

Accidents will happen, however I am glad it
wasn't a more expensive timepiece.

I'm not as devastated as yesterday.

Cheers,
Simon

In reality it was either I got hit by the car,
while trying to pick up the watch.

                        Or

move out of the way and let the watch
 get destroyed.

I didn't have a choice considering the
driver of the car ran a red.

Thanks for the sympathetic comments,
I'll keep everyone updated on the new arrivals.

Cheers,
Simon

Thank you Geoff.

I have been able to keep myself busy through work, not
to dwell on my loss.

Fortunately I have other pocket watches to keep me occupied,
until the others arrive. The English Lever-Fusee needs to get
a key cut, because the original owner lost it.

There are other pocket watches, that I may pounce on but
not immediately.

1) Hamilton 992 pocket watch
2) Omega Caliber 19L pocket watch from 1905-1920.

Due to personal economic situation at the moment,
I have not thought of making a purchase until both
the Zenith and the English Lever-Fusee are back.

If I'm desperate for a watch I might even pull the trigger
on a 1890 Elgin Sidewinder pocket watch, but  I have no
such intentions.

For now anyways, my job comes first.

Thank you everyone for all the kind comments.

Cheers,
Simon

I'm sorry to hear about your pocket watch being destroyed Simon.  I enjoy reading and looking at your posts especially when it has to do with a pocket watch.  It is easy to pick up on how enthusiastic you are when it comes to these rare and fine timepieces.  Good luck in the future with your other watches, cheers.   hand6.gifhand6.gif

I've just got home and finished reading the messages
that everyone has written...I am touched and
moved by the sympathetic comments.

I am deeply moved by Oscar's generosity and I hope
he gets the PM that I have sent him.

To everyone who has shared my loss...

THANK YOU.

Holding back the tears while writing isn't easy but it's
comforting to know that there are people out there,
who genuinely care.

No, amount of words can describe my gratitude
for the comments that I have recieved in this post.

I know for a fact, that I'd would have done the
same thing,if anyone of you has lost their beloved
timepiece.

No, other watch forums that I have visited in the past;
even comes close to 3-T. This is why I am proud to be
a member .

Yes, there are good times, funny moments
and moments where we sit in aw while looking
at various timepieces.

It is moments such is this where we look
after one another that makes 3-T an unique place.

Sincerely,
Simon
