Can a badly scratched stainless steel watch be returned to its former self without replacing any pieces? What would it cost?... Ballpark? I've got my eye on a well worn Tank, but would buy if it could be restored, otherwise it just looks too beaten up. Thanks for your help |

Yes, most SS watches can be restored. Deep scratches, chips, gouges, etc. may be impossible to buff out though. Cost? I had a Rolex cleaned up by a local jeweler for $75. It was amazing how good it looked. |

Deep cuts? Heavy, nasty swirls? Pockmarks? They'd be hard to erase and too much buffing can spoil the sheen of the steel. If you have a jeweler nearby who's used to buffing Rolexes to Rolex standards (hard to find those independents), they'd be worth a try. Prices will surely vary. Good Luck;) |
