I'm looking to pick up the Black Frankenmonster and I've read that its auto movement is "hand unwindable." Apologies in advance for what might seem like a silly question but what does that mean exactly? My only automatic watch is windable. Do I need to place the Frankenmonster on a watch winder? Also for the Frankenmonster owners out there, what is your favorite aftermarket strap combo? Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

In order to wind the watch you just need to shake it about 10 times, that will get it going good. Here's a FrankenTuna on a custom Orb Strap Attachment: 8.JPG (Downloaded 104 times) Last edited on Sun Dec 6th, 2009 09:53 pm by Nabco |

Aujang, not "hand windable" means no matter how much you wind the crown, it won't charge the pallet and the spring therefore there will no movement. Nic is right...just shake it a few times vigorously before you wear and adjust the time/date and you should be ok. I am a traditionalist. The steel bracelet of the Frankenmonster is the best for it, in my personal opinion. The "dimples" on the middle links prevent scratches and dings from being easily seen. smile8.gif |

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has put the kibosh on acquiring the black Frankenmonster. For now at least. But hope springs eternal :D |

I might suggest that you move the watch much more if it has completely unwound. Especially if you aren't active during your day. Otherwise, the watch may stop or not keep good time. I move my Seiko's and Orient watches back and forth 50 to 100 times to get a good wind in it (if they are flat out of juice). A nice wide and gentle arc swing works well. For your winding automatic, wind it 15 to 20 turns if it has been allowed to run down to zero. |

As per avatar, I find my Blue Faced FM on the James Bond Nato a simply unbeatable combo. Gets comments every time I am out. Stylish and sporty at the same time. I have also tried it on ; black leather with white stitch ( nice) brown leather with white stitch ( nope) Orange Nato ( not bad ) Navy Blue Nato( very nice) Black Nato ( very nice ) Khaki Nato ( nope) As an aside, this is the second Seiko I have bought off eBay and the second time I have had problems with the winder. After the second time i used the winder on this FM it is now malfunctioning and will not wind the hands properly at all :X. On my older chrono, the winder came off altogether after about 6 months. Pissed off. Attachment: IMG_2318.JPG (Downloaded 14 times) Last edited on Tue Jan 5th, 2010 11:48 pm by kidkhmer |
