Was looking for some Laco on the bay by curiosity and found that:http://cgi.ebay.com/STOWA-LACO-WW2-AIR-FORCES-GERMAN-PILOTS-LUFTWAFFE-WATCH_W0QQitemZ320489451000QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item4a9ea8edf8#ht_9133wt_1165 I'm a bit skeptical as there's so many "made-up" watches down there... Just asking: I'm not a potential buyer... |

I don't know much about watches, but based on the pictures I've looked at that looks authentic. |

Hammer, I would be willing to bet it's a very good fake. There's a lot of talented fakers in the Ukraine. The watch also looks to be in pretty good shape and that would concern me because all the ones I've seen haven't been that clean looking. |

Yes Murphy, I had a feeling like that... They are pros for made-up watches in Ukraine. It's strange but it seems like the whole 3rd reich forgot every regiment's watches down there |

Will the stampings are correct for the period as is the movement......the seller also has a very high feedback score with close to 1000 sales and 23 bids on this watch which leads me to believe it is original....bear in mind it may not be 100% original due to age and repairs over a long period of time but for the most part it appears genuine imho....this is a vintage 54mm Doxa I bought from him a couple years ago....case needs re-polishing but it runs great!hand6.gif...found it hiding under the bed!:D![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yes Oscar, I know that the movements are not copies and cases are originals also but many dials are made-up to be "WW2 Looking" and it's very often pocket-watches who had some lugs welded on, to use them as a wrist-watch... I observed many home-made welding jobs like that on his site as other sites from Poland or Ukrainia. For the pilot, mvt and case seems originals: But when a guy transform pocket-watches in wrist-watches like that and claim that they are originals from this or that regiment, it don't put in confidence.... Even the pilot csae don't look welded up apparently, I wasn't in full trust. As the dial seems repaired or maybe home-made...??? Who knows with them. |

Just as murph mentioned, there is a lot of weird stuff coming from the Ukraine. Personally I would avoid purchasing almost anything from an eBay seller in the Ukraine. |

Will this is why I said it may not be 100% due to age and repairs.....but it does not seem to be bothering collectors from bidding on this watch which at the given price is a bargain....these watches sell well over what the bid is at this time and will most likely go higher.hand6.gif ...as far as the Doxa I bought from him which was inexpensive I knew it was a converted pocket watch(which he states in all his sales which are converted) and he also stated it in his sale along with the dial being re-done.....again I will say this seller has great feedback and many sales on eBay and you are always hearing WIS say buy the seller...this would be the case where you would buy the seller imho.:) |

Can be interesting to buy expensive watches on the net but , put 25% of value in taxes + 30$ in fees... Add 1000 buks over a 4000 buks watch if the custom put the hand on it. Sellers don't want to underdeclare an expensive watch in fear of loosing insurance if the item "disappear"...Disappear my *ss! Nothing ever disappear :It's just stolen! Specialy if it's writen 4000$ value on the package! Zeros attract the eyes! All in all, even it arrive home, you loose the good deal you made sometimes...
