I have been looking at the Steinhart site, with the Euro devaluation, prices are getting good. I was wondering the size/wearability of the 42mm diver line. Do they wear smaller or larger than the stated size (i.e. more like a Rolex, or like a Zeno Airplane Diver)? By the way, they have a good looking special edition watch for a Spanish forum in their Special Edition section. |

perhaps you missed this post in New Arrivals a little while ago....at 42mm it will wear more like a 40mm Rolex than a 45mm Zeno Airplane. http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=20305&forum_id=2 |

I have a Steinhart diver. It won't wear like a Zeno Airplane. The Zeno has a MUCH thicker case and it wears BIG at 45mm. The Steinhart looks its size of 42mm on my wrist. Attachment: redstein.jpg (Downloaded 112 times) |

Thanks Mcwright. What can you tell me about the watch? Thanks! |

The watch is nicely made, all stainless steel case and bracelet. The bracelet uses screwed-in solid links and solid end links. Case back is solid and engraved. The is nicely sculptured and easy enough to turn. Inside is a Swiss Made ETA 2824-2 movement. I have not opened the case to see inside. The hands and dot markers have luminous material applied, but the lume is only fair on this vintage (about 3-4 years old). I suspect newer versions have better and brighter lume. Supposedly the case is made by Grovana. I'm not totally sure of that however. I also have two newer Grovana models like this one with better lume, but not much else is changed. The angle of the lugs is more to my liking. All three are very nice watches. see: http://www.timetechtalk.com/view_topic.php?id=20305&forum_id=2 Attachment: grov-1.jpg (Downloaded 88 times) |

Green version. Note: These Grovana models do not have screw-in bracelet links. They use standard pins. Attachment: grovanagr.jpg (Downloaded 87 times) |

Thanks for that! One final question, is the Steinhart clasp scissors type, or oyster type? Thanks again! Last edited on Fri Apr 16th, 2010 09:46 am by ral |

I speak a little Spanish and can understand a little bit more but it's really daunting to pop in on the "foros" as I'd look like a goof with my very bad answers Nice to see their photography though. Thanks for this, O |

They are exclusive and sold out, with a long waiting list. It was required to be a member of the forum. As per what I read, it was a killer price as well. US$ 472, including European VAT (which would be around US$ 400 w/o VAT), for a 2893-2 LE GMT with a ceramic bezel... I would buy one instantly! |

The Ocean 1 is 42 mm and wears like a 42 mm diver, similar to a Seiko Monster or SKX007 on bracelet. It appears a bit wider though, due to the design and it is slimmer (not as tall). It wears good on my wrist of 8 1/4" but I think some times that if it was 44 mm it would be better... But I am happy with it. |
