This Cuckoo Clock was hanging in my house before I was born and the sounds it produces remind me of when I was a kid. My parents moved to Arizona in the mid 90's when I was in college in Kansas and I never gave this clock much thought during those years. I would say 10-15 years past before I asked my mom what happened to that old clock. She told me it was in storage but wasn't working anymore. I asked her if I could have it and I started looking into repair shops that could repair it. I found 1 guy here in North Kansas City who told me he could repair it and that he was probably only 1 or 2 people in the whole city who could do the work. It took over a year before I heard back from him and my clock was finished and ready for pick up. I have had it working now for a few years but recently decided to post the photos and story. Next I started to wonder where it came from, since my parents have never been to Germany. So I asked my mom and she told me it came from my uncle's brother. He served in Vietnam a few times and then he was stationed in Germany in the 70's. He purchased this clock for my parents at some point during his stay. I plan to contact my uncle to get more info on his brother's service. His brother died of cancer about 10 years ago, and I remember many people speaking about his extraordinary service during Vietnam, so I am interested to learn the stories. For now, here is the clock that now hangs in my house.

Way cool, Steve. We grew up with one of those. If you wind it by pulling the chain at the exact same time daily, that clock isn't cuckoo at all. It can be quite accurate

Awesome Steve! My Dad had stag head cuckoo clock he bought in Cologne, Germany probably 25-30 years ago. Looked something like this;

My Grandfather had one like that when I was a kid. I have no idea what became of it. I remember the sound like it was yesterday.

I have a normal Smiths Enfield clock that is in for repair ATM but not a cuckoo clock. That is a wonderful looking clock you have there. I treasure things that can pull me back to my childhood so I understand where you are coming from. I hope you enjoy for years to come. Neo

Steve that is  , to recieve such a treasured clock & it looks like a new one.The rich color & luster AMAZING.Did your clock repair man restore it as well or just get it working properly??? Either way it looks Childhood memories r great.I remember my grandpa's clocks as well.My family originated from Germany

Thanks! the repair guy cleaned it, but he didn't paint anything. the wood-chopper guy is missing an arm, someday I may try and find a replacement or make one.
