Hello everybody... I think the title is pretty self explanatory, I've decided to purchase a watch as a x-mas present for me and recently found some Certinas on a local shop and they really intrigued me, but don't know if they're worth it... I've read some info on the net but would love to read what you guys feel about it...

The models that have caught my attention are:

Sorry for the site pic but it was the best I could find..... Look forward for any comments...ThumbsUp02.gif

afc...I don't own a Certina, but I know there are at least a few 3T'ers that own the DS-3 reissue...and that one certainly is a looker (and has been noted for its very solid build)...I almost jumped on a DS-3 several months ago, and then like most WIS...got distracted by something else!subtlelaugh.gif

I like the look of the models you posted...I'd certainly like to know more...mainly, what is the price of entry on these two, and what are the specs...I do see that they are 200m diver rated pieces which is a good starting point.

Yes, I own a Certina DS3 reedition housing a 2824-2: It's a fabulous watch all around. The first thing who pushed me to buy it in 2004 was the fact that it was so much watch for the buks: But they was going for just above 800 buks here and that was the lowest price on the planet....?
Even in Switzerland the price was higher: Taxes you know...
Anyway: It took all my fishing trips since then and still serves me perfectly as it's first day.
I have a friend in his 50's who has an old mechanical Certina from his father: Still working perfect in every ways...
My girlfriend has a quartz Certina also since 4 years: No problemo. For me Certina is under-rated.

Hello everybody... Thanks for the responses, that's what I wanted to read... indeed they are underrated watches (I think)...

The watches I put in the thread are Quartz watches, I know they're not everyone's cup'o'tea but they are more than ok for me and I can't afford Hammerfjord's awesome DS3 reedition so right now, I think i'll start with the DS Action...

I'll be sure to post some pics as soon as I get itthumbsup.gif

I knew I had a few vintage Certinas and pulled this DS-2 non quickset day/date out earlier this week. This is a 40yr. old example of how watches should be made...to last forever.
....It has an acrylic domed crystal, enamel dial and nicely finished brushed/polished curved case.As you can see it houses an in-house Certina 25-652 automatic with anti-magnetic and double shock protection..
...I was thinking of having the movement cleaned and serviced but since bringing it out of hibernation for the past 4 years and winding it up it is running well within COSC specs...no need imho and once again a watch that was built to last.
....If Certina is still building their watches at this level than imo Certina would be a great choice for any WIS.
