So I know most of us WIS don't stay idle long....subtlelaugh.gif and I was wondering if any of you had already purchased (not received but bought/paid for) a watch this year?mistake.gif

I'll start...

I did buy a ZIXEN the 30th that will land tuesday hopefully but Yesterday Jan 1, I did buy a watch from a fellow forum member... THE FIRST WATCH of 2011boy10.gif I'll let it be a surprise, though some of you may guess as I am a fan of their watchesdancing.gif.... It won't be here until late this week or even early next week I am guessing. It was unexpected but an opportunity presented itself and it will be  my (early) Bonus present to myselfparty.gif

I also bought one today, a planned affordable purchase, a Sub homage from Hager Watch Company, the pre-order started today and I'd been waiting for it... watches are due in April. I liked the style and always wanted one but never found an affordable one I liked I guess. This one is only $210 shipped. After talking to Pete a few times, I decided to go ahead. ad yesa it does NOT have a swiss mvt but does not pretend to do so.

Your turn...toon1.gif

Well Brice..........Looks like you are keeping your rapid WIS acquisition pace in full effect as we roll into the new year amigo!!!!thumbsup.gif  ....the common man simply cannot keep up!!!dog smile.gifyou rock.gif

Looks like you are starting 2011 off right with a strong trifecta to boot!!!

Can't wait to see your Zixen (have been tempted by many in that lineup), your 2nd purchased on Jan 1st...hmmm...Omega, Anonimo, Doxa, or something else...can't wait to check it out...and then this Hager homage (a complete new one to me, but definitely a great "check-it-out" price!

I only have preorders from Benarus and Bali Ha'i that await as the new year begins.

...and by the way, can't wait to see your WIS 2010 (even if some came and went) if you can keep them all straight!!!bravo.gif

Not any watch for me yet...I wait for the right opportunity...
Hmmm, well, didn't see this Hager before but looked on it and the TY2806 mvt is a Sea-Gull ST16...
Apparently a Japanese inspired mvt made by the Chineses.
This is the mvt you find in the Alpha watches.
This Hager Commando is most likely fully made in China and not better than an Alpha: Not for me, I prefer to save my buks.
Also: Why the bezel's lume-dot never align with the top marker, even on them site?

I must say that the video(specialy the music) gave me a blastfart.gif
Sorry Brice: Just giving my opinion...

LOL it was all out of sarcasm in reference to the truly amazing music.

By the way, I have a steinhart ocean 1 on the way.  Ordered it on the 25th of December, but after ordering it I realized that they are on vacation until the 10th of January...so the watch won't get out until the 11th

Ah ah! I always love to read your posts, you crack me up! And I can always use a good laugh! My friend, you do not have to be sorry for sharing your opinion, I’d rather you be honest (while remaining courteous as you did) and it really does not bother me. We don’t have to agree on all watches and manufacturers etc… I like that style a lot and wanted one but did not want to spend 500 or even 1000 dollars for a MKII for example. Not this type watch anyway, nothing wrong with them… Just not what I want to spend a lot of $ on at this point.

Also I have held the Alpha sub and was disappointed in its overall feel and quality, looks up close was not up to par for me. I have hope this one will be of higher build quality with a better case/caseback finish, nice applied indices… The specs are ok by me for the $ though it is a bit more than the Alpha, I grant you that. I have owned Sea-Gull mvt based wathces and had no issues myself though I am sure I could find horror stories on some of them. I had a Parnis wich had a sea Gull mvt which ran real nicely and looked ok as well. One of my colleagues own the Alpha Mil Sub, and while the finish is not real nice up close, the watch has been good to him and the mvt has been running +12 he says… anyways we’ll see. I hope the next Hager prototypes coming up have a better alignment. Some things still need to be worked obviously but I am looking forward to seeing it.

thankyou.gif and subtlelaugh.gif Look who's talking?

Shall I refer you to Mark’s 2010 look back thread J where you posted all those wonderful timepieces you acquired last year, no common man watch shopping spree for sure! I got dizzy just looking at all those pictures, it kept going and going and going… subtlelaugh.gif

All joking aside, the Zinex was a 2010 purchase technically J and part of my watch fund from sales I did towards the end of the year. It was a planned purchase, I can’t wait to see it and hope I’ll.. ahem.. bond… with it right away as I have been wanting this one and have high expectations J

The first purchase of 2011 is one of those brands you mentioned, al good guesses J The Hager is something different for me, new style to my collection I have been wanting to try one but at a budget for now to ensure I’d like it. This one was also part of watch fund and expected purchase after talking to the owner a few times last year.

I haven’t had time to work on the 2010 thread, too much work getting all those pics together and I also lost almost all the pics from the watches I flipped and had moved to a combined album. I’ll try and work on it tonight J

Cheers

Brice

I would have a new purchase but I just can't make up my mind.  Steinhart Marine Chrono, GMT, Vintage GMT, also like the look of the Prometheus GMT.  Not to mention some of the new Seikos I have seen posted here.  Its giving me a headache  LOL

Hard to go wrong with a Steinhart purchase so when they get back next week I will be pulling the trigger.  Just don't ask me which one.  Its going to be a coin flip.

Thanks, amigo. I liked this one because of the unusual bezel and the challenge that the 20mm widths that will pose for zulus and natos. Overall, I guess this will be a keeper.

My watch buying had slowed way down since the middle of 2010 when I picked up a PAM312, and I don't anticipate buying many watches in 2011, but I just pulled the trigger on a Seiko SDGA001 e-ink digital watch.  I had been intrigued since it was unveiled last year and after doing some research recently I decided that it was something I wanted to have.  I'm looking forward to it next week!

Thanks Brice! I'm having my load of fun here too!Yes, there's a ton of homages and similar watches: The thing is that with MIIK, you are sure of a quality standard and great lume. Once again, it seems like Hager has a trouble with the bezel alignment when I see all pics they posted... We'll find out soon when you receive yours anyway.
I, personnaly, am not about to buy any Seagull powered watch, neither thinking that they will rise one day and become collectors or appriciated on the market.
Seagull should at first: Concieve and not copy or get constantly inspired, if they want real recognition.
Seiko is recognise because they innovate: Seagull should watch and learn, not copy constantly.
Offcourse, innovation is costfull and it seems like they are just looking for short term profits...My opinion.

Overnight shipping is the BEST!

There's a "newie" (preowned) and an oldie coming in, both divers, both sort-of American....Just thinking about it now: this will be my first vintage incoming since November 2010! oh my.gif

I have an incoming Seiko monster mod I bought from another forum. Done by MCWW - bead blasted with red hands so it should be a nice addition to the PVD watches I seem to collect lately.

Well the end of last year saw a lot of my collection go but I have held on to a few and things are better again now so watch this space pardon the pun.

I only have My Stienhart, Vostok 1967, Tonino Lamboughgini left and feel a bit naked.
Anyway things are looking well now so I may have one in the post....

Wasn't planning on buying anything lately but walked into my local TJ Maxx and walked out with a Tourneau Seapearl for less than half of list price. Really nice quartzie on an amazing bracelet. I'll get some pics up when I have a few minutes to spare.
