Risky move this time. Being that the global economy is still very shaky. They could be shooting them self in the foot this time.

Probably, John, but in Asia, wealth and demand is so strong that I think the Swiss can "afford" a price increase this time. Good thing I've had my share of Swiss pieces already.

Yea Asia is doing OK and so are a few South American countries. But with this news all Swiss made watches in my collection will now likely stay in my collection for much longer. Maybe this Spring I will part with a few of my Asian made watches. Buy Swiss before the bell. LOL

Luxury brands didn't see any real long down-fall on them market during the economic crise in fact.
It's them who are coming now, to say that it's time to raise the prices...Offcourse.
I think that it's the middle range brands who been loosing the most of the money during the past years.
Well, I'm not surprised at all but most of us are not concerned by those brands and it's yet to wait and see if the middle range brands will dare to follow this path.

So true about the high end not hurting.

2 years ago I sat next to the US rep for DeBethune on a trip from Vegas (watch convention) to NY. Apparently their watches were already sold for that year and next. I think they're most "affordable" model was like $30K.

Crazy.
