Since there are so many dive watches I have never heard of before joining this site. If you guys had 1000.00 to spend on a solid automatic dive watch. What would you buy and why. I am trying to learn about all these new brands and have everything from Seiko's to Benarus and some Casio, Luminox, and others now, but want to add a new brand and model to my collection and really enjoy all the new divers here that I have never heard of. If this type of post is not allowed on this forum, please delete and I apologize. Thank you...

I'd suggest a Seiko Sumo (SBDC001 or SBDC003) and pocket the leftover $400.  For the price I don't think you can do much better for a starter dive watch.  Superb styling, fit/finish, and movement.

But given that you said you want something new, I'm anxiously awaiting the May(?) release of the Halios Laguna.  It's expected to be in the ~$700 range and looks like a stunner.

Hi Mr. Pearlman..
With that range there's a lot, and I mean A LOT of possibilities lying around this forum that might fit your needs but you have to narrow your search down, for ex, are you searching for something new or can it be preloved? Swiss or Japanese Automatic? Big brand or micro brand? Etc....
I for one would have more than 10 watches to choose from if I had that budget... (Ocean7, BaliHai, Dievas, MKII, Halios, preloved Sinn U1, Stowa, Bell & Ross) and many others....

Asked a qinda simmilar question not so long ago myselfe, and had som different suggestions that I was considering ($650-$1500 aprox)
And the one suggestion that got most "votes" was the Dievas Vortex.
After doing some researche on it, I got one at gnomonwatches.com, and haven`t looked back since. Just hands down love it! It is really well made, has some  impressive specks (fricker case as on some kobolds, and an adjusted 2824-2 mvt just to mention a few) And also gnomonwatches was great to deal with, and quick.
So, my suggestion would be a Dievas Vortex, no dubt about it. Several nice and really good others out there at that price point, but the Vortex was a clear winner for me.
Gonna do a rewiev on it here at 3T soon, just haven`t had the time to finish it yet.

Anyways, good luck. And as one of my fellow WIS stated in the tread, the fun is in the huntThumbsUp02.gif

Good points and some good information already. I have been thinking about the Magellan in orange, but never heard of these guys before? Look like great watches though and love that orange dial and ETA 2824 movement. I will try and narrow my search and post more detail , thank you men....
