I have these cloths , does any1 know if they work on titanium, will it polish it & make it shinny, that I dont want. I'm a strap changer & it's bound to happen on my new (an oops!) Pam176 in Ti, so was wondering if any1 here has any experience w/ them on Ti pieces.I KNOW they work on S/S but will they work on TITANIUM. Any & all responses appreciated in advance William |

William...I'm going to give you a half response...My experience with the Cape Cod polishing cloths has only been on ss. I only have two titanium cased pieces, and they are blasted in finish so I've never tried to do finish touch ups on those. But, my understanding is that the Cape Cod cloths will indeed only polish to a shiny finish (which you don't want). I have used both the "brush pen" and the 3M green pad (and 1 other pad specifically for brushed finish repairs) for maintaining brushed finishes on ss cases...My understanding is that they will also maintain the brushed finish on titanium, but I have no personal experience on titanium. |

the cape cods will not work on Ti as Chris says unless you want to have a shiny finish once the scratches are removed...best remedy for Ti is a ink eraser but you need to go light as they tend to change the color of the Ti if you just jump right in...try a test spot on the underside of the lug 1st....the blue eraser works best and then wash and dry the watch when done...very simple and cost effective imo. ..... if you want there is a product some WIS swear by... the Ti pen from BWE....I have used it on a complete watch case and the case came out like new (except for deep gouges) and it was a blasted Ti case which I believe your Panny is(e-mail them for availability on polished and blasted Ti)...it may work well for spot touches like you need. http://www.bostonwatchexchange.com/servlet/the-48/Titanium-%26-Steel-Refinishing/Detail ...you may want to try the new Benarus Moray II springbars that look like the single head screw Panny uses....I love them and swapping straps is easy as it gets without any scratches to worry about... http://www.benaruswatches.com/custom/index.php |

No experience on cape Cod cloths. I just used the rag that comes with prescription eyeglases and they work. Somehow, I like ti to be scruffed and don't mind swirls and scratches. Ti is best when a little dull and muted, IMHO. /size] |

William, I changed so many times of straps on my 2 Pam homages: Polished steel and PVD model. Never scratched my lugs: Never. I just seat under a good light, guide the tip of my screwdriver with my right hand, against my left index holding my watch, sliding it into the screw slowly. I don't press hard on the screwdriver when I screw or unscrew: I just twist it calmly and it makes it's way without poping out of the screw head. Because I use the right size of screwdriver, it fit/hold inside the screw head and stay there. No mystery, simple and easy except if you have Parkinson... It's not the first time that I read people complaining about scratches and more...And I allready explained how I do it, but this time, I took pictures while doing it: Holding my small camera with my right who was holding the screwdriver at the same time...Making you guys even more nervous! ![]() I use no trick, no teflon tape, nothing and I don't scratch anything but my balls ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
