Mystery
Mystery movement A debut of the latest inventions of the famous Russian watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin will take place at the exhibition BaselWorld 2012 (8-15th March, Basel). In the run-up to this significant event Konstantin Chaykin hurries to announce a creation of a new mechanical enigma watch – Mystery. The new creation of the Russian master represents a watch with a completely transparent dial and a pair of hands in the center mysteriously suspended in the empty space of the gold case. Driven by an invisible force, they duly show the current time. The miniature movement of the watch is fully hidden under the bezel of the case decorated with applied Roman numerals and a sophisticated aperture of the moon phase indicator. It is not easy to penetrate into the mystery of the mechanical movement, but the watchmaker is ready to disclose it during the exhibition. Welcome to the show of micromechanical magic with complete exposure! We will be happy to see you in showroom 5-1 at AHCI B01 stand. By: Konstantin Chaykin Watch & Clock Atelier

I guess that there is a sandwich of 2 crystals who are rotating independently: One holding the minute hand , one for the hour hand.
The crystals may have teeth on them perimeters who are connected to the hour/minutes wheels actioned by the movement...
That would explain why there is a big axis in the center: Both crystal dials are rotating around it

Oh that really is cool. I love movements with see-through (presumably sapphire) components.

No William! Now you´ve gone and spoiled it ...It´s like saying there is no Santa Claus.
But yes, +1 on this being a sound explanation from the Sheriff. Guessing that there won´t be any asian knock-off`s made of this mvt any time soon, hehe.

I was suspecting a series of opposing magnets around the tubular bezel (check the screw heads) that would drag the hands around and the small movement protected by a lead cage (like the Milgauss) but after reading Professor William's piece, I think he is right on the button. Nice!

Not sure how that would look on the wrist. I mean...an ugly, thick, hairy background really is not what I want from a watch dial!dog smile.gif
