That was awesome.  Really...one of the coolest short films I've ever seen.  All of a sudden I want a gold Rolex.

Been wondering sometimes, about if they loved more watches than them own bragging...
This clip was full of: Buy Rolex, it's the best if you're rich and want to show it off.
I also know people with 1000 times less money who know much more about watches, as for one fact is telling it all: They don't specially dream about the watches those rich guys are mostly collecting.
In my eyes, more you know about and appreciate mechanical wonders and less you need a gold Daytona.
More you have money and want to show a gained social achievement and more you need your gold Rolex.

I saw a bunch of people who love watches, just like the folks on this board.  Yes, some of them were definitely rich, but so what...rich people like watches too.  I thought that the excitement that was shown was sincere.  Nothing wrong with Rolex infatuation.  They gave a lot of screen time to Cartier, Richard Mille, GP, Patek too.

Oh, I got nothing against rich people...And yes, they was genuinely exited.
But they had a shallow vision about watches in my meaning: The guy proves it well when he tells to the GB Cartier president that they could sell bananas with Cartier written on it, put it on the wrist and it would sell...
And the boss answer that if Cartier stands where they are, it's because they never done that...( 19:35 to 20:08)
Seriously? Put some other rich guys doing this reportage...
And I was speaking about the only watches they bragged about in them "collection" and recommend to each-others when I spoke about Rolex...

I saw this too, but I get what Will is saying. There is a lot of emphasis on Rolex in the film and the main subject/character(Tom Bolt) does seem to push Rolex quite a bit, but let's be honest, Rolex does have some of the best resale out there and the used stuff is still affordable to most. I have a Rolex and for various reasons it's the ONLY watch I now have. Is it the only watch I want? No. Is it recognizable to many as some sort of status symbol? Yes it is. Is there a perception that only rich people wear Rolex? Yes there is. I am not rich, but I have a Rolex. I work hard and can spend my dollars where I want. I wanted a Submariner. I always have. I got one. Rest assured though, that there is quite the bevy of less expensive watches that I like and want. Most of all though, I identified with the enthusiasm I saw in the film. Just like I think we all do ThumbsUp02.gif
