I'm considering buying a new watch and I have a few I like. Just need some input from the all knowing members of 3T. I live in an area that has a crappy selection of watches so I need some input....first up is a Longines http://www.bernardwatch.com/Longines/Grande-Vitesse-Chronograph/LON141
second is a Rado http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Rado-D-Star-200-Chrono-XL-R15966203-Automatic-Mens-Chronograph-Watch-/360809635494?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item5401ee1ea6

limit is $2000 any other suggestions would be helpful....TIA.

I'm not all-knowing, amigo, but just to add my input.....my money is on the Rado. It is better in terms of the movement, design and build quality. I personally find the Longines dial and bezel a bit too busy as if it wanted to be something else. The Rado is spot on....modern, serious and all business. Re-sale on the Rado might also be a little better down the road.

Let us know what you shot down.

I dont know how true it is. I was warned to stay away from Longines. Beautiful watches, but the movements are fragile and they are expensive to service/repair is what i was told.

Greg,
I've always liked that Vitesse model a lot. That said the Rado is sweet also. Just a tip, if you like the Rado go to Ashford.com they have that watch for $600 less, in black though

Underrated brand IMHO. I have the Extreme diver which I posted in WURW today. Very well built watches.

I like the Longines and the Rado and I own the 3 hand version of the Rado and can say it is awesome, great shade of blue and can go sport or dress...Alpina makes a nice watch also,I have the Heritage chrono which is awesome, but on the small side.I would say the Longines and Rado are a bit better as far as fit & finish... they use eta movements, where Alpina uses Selitta for the most part, exception may be the chrono models.ThumbsUp02.gif

@ Greg....quite a few of us here at 3T made pre-orders for the Helberg CH1 and these are already about to land on our front doors. You might want to put this on your radar as they seem to be quite a an excellent choice for some very discerning WIS.
