Why are there no automatics in women's watches?   :?  (Stuhrling does have a couple, but . . .)

Why are there no automatic watches a woman could wear without it being a dinner plate on her wrist?   Is it too much to want 36-40mm including crown?   :?

Why are there no affordable automatics for women?  :?

Why are any affordable automatics for women loaded with hearts and/or jewels?  Why?

I want a Trias, Poljot Buran, OG's Locman and a zillion others.  All too bloody large! :(

I find it unfair that you guys get all the luck.  not fair at all......so there!  :X  And, don't make light of it--'tain't funny McGee!  I must sit and read all about your wonderful purchases and become depressed.  You think I didn't want that Backgammon?  think again.....merde!

Thing is:  there is no answer to any of my questions, but thought it was time you became aware of my/our problem.

I'll tell you why. . . (at least in my experience)

Women are concerned with style, not function.  (again, I'm just stating the majority opinion). My wife has one auto, and she always complains that she has to wind it. There is no appreciation of 'the guts'.

So, I took in a line of Women's quartz and autos about 2 years ago. The auto's don't sell; so, they're on SALE!

(I can't get the friggin' link to paste - sorry)

Well, if one listens to eyal and others, women are going nuts over huge sizes.  I must admit no one ever mentions us wanting autos.

Of the females I know, they even think having more than one watch proves insanity.

My favorites are pure mechanicals; it's great winding one and setting the time.  I didn't get "into" watches until I happened across TT and his teaching a few years back, so I do know what you guys are going nutso about.

I also like the one skeletonized piece I have--watching all the parts doing their thing is fascinating.

Yet, there are others like myself (must be the minority)who drool over some men's watches and wish . . .  Can't your wife just give it one good shake to get it going?  Of course, then the time must be set (horrors--all that work).  Buy her a winder......LOL   Quartz is convenient, but. . .

On the other hand, I know plenty of men who are happy with their quartz pieces and find autos "too much trouble"...go figure.  :D

I was going to finish my earlier post with the following (but the link not posting was really getting me peeved):

Of all the watches sold in the WORLD last year, under 10% were NOT BATTERY operated. So yes, it's men too. I get lots of calls from people who tell me "the watch I bought from you stopped last night, I can't believe the battery is bad!". Then I have to explain that its an auto. They say "Like a Rolex?" I say "Yes".

WOW!

Well, good luck in your quest!

My wife insists on quartz.  She has zero appreciation for the mechanical marvels that infatuate us men.

I can name a few companies that sell auto's for women Stuhrling (that one you mentioned already) Croton, Invicta,Oris and a lot of others sell auto's and depending on size Trias have a few smaller watches that would fit a women so if you search a little more you can fine them but if your speaking of specific watches then your right.

My Queen has (3) auto's and (2) quartz and guess which ones she wear the most the QUARTZ and believe it or not the auto's stay on winders so, they're isnt a problem with setting them she just says that the auto's dont fit her attire most of the time plus there to nice to wear on her job so they stay in the box.

It really depends on your style if you gave a little more info as to what your really looking for then im sure we can set you in the right direction for sure.

Alway keep an eye on this site. I purchased my wife a Tissot 14k gold watch manual wind from 1970, she is very  happy with it.  Eddie had the Lady Speedbird auto but they seem to be sold out.  You can write Eddie to see if he has something available that you want, nice guy. :) I think you just missed some good deals.

Well, gentlemen:

From Mr. Ken, I expected nothing else.......wonder how he'd take it if all he could get were 26-30mm. with hearts yet!  ;)  Wrist steroids, indeed!  hmmmmpft!!

To Mr. Pacifichrono:   you have my sympathies.

To Mr. jakisbck:  slop is out as a source; I need info as to which other sources carry Trias--wish WSS did.

To Johnny P:  shall keep the link; thanks a lot

Gentlemen:  while I follow all your acquisitions, I haven't kept up with all your sources.  Too, I don't know how you manage to be constantly looking and still live your lives???  :D

I very much appreciate your words (with the exception of one of you).  Maybe, one day, I, too, shall be able to post a military-ish watch that fits my bill and build.  Thanks again.  :) :)

One of the honchos here has accused me of "whining".

I have not committed that word. :X

I have complained.

Did the rest of you consider it "whine, whine, whine"?  If so, I must take my problems to that other place, from whence I am banned.

I feel that I stated my case in a rather ladylike fashion--ticked, but ladylike.  That "gentleman" ought to be chastised in some way, shape, or form.  HAH! that's a laugh.  :D

And, with this, I bid you all adieu.  ;)

Yes there are some automatic watches for women and very interesting, besides there are "men,s" watches with 35 mm caliber perfectly suitable for women,s wrists. The problem is that women up to date have shown more interest in wearing watches as a complement of jewelry than a collectors one but if the demand is bigger each day I am sure that many brands will start considerin it, besides there are indeed a good offer in certain brands as G.P., Omega, Tissot for feminine automatic watches. Older times as well offered real masterpieces as this one for example: the eternamatic golden heart, my wife is the proud owner of one of this (besides she has as well Omega, Tissot, Seiko all automatics, and besides sometimes uses my own supposedly "men" watches. Regards.

Oh, god!  it's gorgeous and looks like a Trias.  But, fgs, it's $575!  Well, I could take out a line of credit on the house......hadn't considered going quite that high.

But that is EXACTLY what I'd like to have....  The diameter's not bad, the hands gorgeous.  It's a beauty!

Thank you!

Ignore Ken???  Surely, you jest......:D   He makes it impossible!  ;)

Marc sent me a link and I saw a tonneau that wasn't bad at all. I don't know that much about Stovard Jurgenson, but a manual wind = heaven!  That's one great looking timepiece!

How could you possibly know that I cannot abide open-heart complications (shudder).......they wanted to make me a Tourbillon over at the other place and I had to beg to remain a Complication......really!  rofl.

Sir--note the diameters; too wide for me, which is what usually eliminates Trias from the loop (and most other brands)  Cannot do 40mm + crown--it's a saucer on my wrist; over that, it's a dinner plate.

Mr. jakisbck (hey, I misspelt it earlier and apologize)--how'd you know Jacky was around?  Thanks for talking to him about my situation.

No one can possibly spend more time researching watches than he does.

Thanks again. :)

Jacky why dont you suggest the Seiko5 that'll surely fit someone with a small wrist as well as fit the bill being an AUTO:cool:

Jacky, I'm sorry.  With all the responses flooding this thread, somehow or another, I missed yours.  Now I know what jakisbck (is that spelled right?) was talking about.

This reminds me of the Zeno Explorer. Sure looks similar.  At this point, everything's starting to look the same. :?

Thank you very much, Jacky.  :)

I have a 6" wrist.  Please don't knock yourself out. In all honesty, this one didn't "talk" to me. However, I'll have to read all the info and let it sink in.

Many thanks for this link.  :)

Just an idea, a friend of mine wears the mid. size 33mm Roman.  She really likes it and it is complicated, ETA 2892/2 with power reserve and independent GMT.  The bracelet and watch are much better designed then the pic shows.  The only thing is she wishes that it had blue hands like mine.  Her wrist is about a 6 may be a bit smaller plays well on her wrist.

I do like it. Think it's more attractive than the larger one with the shark strap.  Blue hands would really make a big difference.  Like the crown and coin-edge bezel, but the price is more than I want to spend.  :(

Thank you for the link and for the post.  :)

(was wondering if and when you'd join the fray.....lol)

Onething for sure it's narrowing down to something that looks like a man watches but can be worn by a woman also, the price range seems to be below $250. Has to be auto or mechanical and nevermind about the zeno I showed you it was only a test to see what you like and dis-like.

Been looking at the Zeno and guess what?

It's the bloody  'victa Russian Diver :X  with that wretched Canteen crown cover that can't get lost even if one wants it lost!  :D

The diameter is the first step........if that's wrong, I forget the rest.

No it is totally different from ZENO Explorer! Here is the explorer:

Different hands, dial, markings, crown, strap/bracelet, even the logo is different! IMO, the ladies pliot looks more gorgeous than the Exlporer 100 times!

JMO of course!:)

This is a nice find as I was about to suggest the samething.

Remember womens watches were a lot fancier, blingy and just darn right beauty pieces as stated before in one of the earlier threads and up unitl now some look at watches alot different than mere jewelry pieces to there attire.

Im wondering if she looked at any Eco-drive models or is that something she discounted all togather. Trasers are nice Luminox is nice as well.

And what was wrong with the Seiko 5 series again?

Jacky mina has one right!

I definitely understand your feelings.  At the same time, I am constantly finding watches that are 36mm or 37mm in diameter (w/o crown) that I would love to buy, but they don't really work on my gorilla wrists.

Good luck in your watch quest!  When I find cool watches that are too small for me I'll try to post them here for you.

Dan:)

I'd love to have one of these:

I would very much appreciate it if you'd let me know--send a PM.  The #1 thing is that they must be around 36-38mm; any larger, and I can't do it.

So, go for it.......it's a great-looking watch!  :D

well me being me not even going to try and guest that one, I can wait.............................:)

Anyway here's another I just found I think the price is $249

This stainless steel dive master's timepiece has it all--most notably, the 25 jewel, 2824-2 calibre, Swiss-made automatic (self-winding) movement powered by the motion of your wrist. You will never need a battery! The solid stainless steel case contains a top-of-the-line diver's specification screw-crown. The heavy, solid-link, stainless steel bracelet and safety-lock clasp will make sure all of these features are safe: luminous hands and dial markers; heat-tempered mineral crystal with date magnifier; uni-directional, ratchet bezel; and a mineral-glass exhibition back, so you can see the working movement.
