This book is very helpful in determining movements and markings, but a lot of the time OEM will have milled off these identifiers on a movement. So unless you know the person doing the decorating or the purchaser of the movements using the markings on a movement is not always useful, and has led to conspiracy theorist on the web to implicate Co. and people in things they did not do.

Let me rephrase that this person was giving me hell one time back in my Miramar/Hollywood days and I made him pay $150 for the worst copy we had so that he could try to prove me wrong. I went to Miami Subs through the drive through and ordered a bottle of Cuvee Dom Perignon and wings, went back to the meeting and ate while they where trying to prove me wrong. The lunch did not suck. May be if it was in Spanish they would have been able to figure I was right quicker and I could have just kept the cash instead of making a point.

To answer your question, Yes it is, and has been available to everyone since vol 1 was released and is standard reference for any watch maker or design studio. It is a good general reference, more detailed info can be gotten from the various manufactures, but this is one of the first places I was trained to go.
