Guys, I'm not sure if this watch is genuine or fake. Aparently there are some dodgy ones around but they are not made by the usual suspects and no-one seems to know where they come from. This one could be a genuine one. I know very little about Blancpain other than what I found out when researching the book. But damn!!!!!!! this is hot. These used to turn up quite freuqently on the bay a few years back. Don't know about now, as the place has really gone downhill and I hardly look there anymore. I remember them because of the nuclear symbol. I have no idea if it is genuine. The Fifty Fathoms never really did it for me. Also, I've never really read a good explanation of their exact significance in dive watch history. People always mention Blancpain and Cousteau in the same breath, but I can't remember seeing pics of him or his team sporting them. Any info in the Doxa book that puts it in context, Pete? |
