Hi all,

I am torn between this:

Seiko Marinemaster SBDX001

and this one:

Glycine Lagunare Chronometer LE

Both pictures stoled from ze internets

Your opinions? And maybe an idea where the Glycine LE could be had for a decent price? Just in case? happy1.gif

Well they both are rockin watches. I would go for the Glycine probably first if you can score a good price.

But you know what they say if you can't make your mind get both. LOL :D

I'd love to, but unfortunately each one of them is on the outer limit of my price range already :(

Glycine all the way rev_smile.gif rev_smile.gif rev_smile.gif

I've owned this Glycine for the last several months and just love it cool10.gif

Have had seiko's (and the one you are looking at as well) and you would probably prefer the Glycine. You can find the LE for much better price than retail if you look around a bit.. yourock.gif

Oh I hear ya there and can so relate! And both of those are likely a rarity to find at a stupid low price new.

Did some googling and no good buy hits yet. So best of luck on finding that sweet price to buy one. ;)

Both great choices Christian!...the Marine Master is coveted by all who own it as being the ultimate Seikohand6.gif The Glycine is a beauty and can be found readily online....just a note that Glycine carries one line for Europe and another for the U.S.A....the U.S market gets a sapphire crystal and usually a decorated movement ...a bit higher quality and price...while the Europoean market gets mineral crystal and unfinished movements at a lower cost...this I learned from a local AD who has carried Glycine since 1920watch2.gif

thanks for the heads-up, Oscar!
The Glycine LE that I am after in particular was limited to 200 pieces worldwide, so no fear of lesser-quality edition here. It has gotten a bit difficult to get one at a decent price, though.

Seiko for me. I don't care for the rubber strap. I'm also guessing the Glycine would be a larger case size by the looks of it. The Seiko most likely would have the brighter luminous material. The bracelet would no doubt be very comfortable to wear and I'm not sure I go for the rotating bezel on the inside of the dial on the Glycine.

Christian....I own 2 Glycines, a vintage 1964 Airman that has been through hell and back and a new Glycine Airman 2000.  The vintage is running every bit as well today as it did in 1964.  I have held the Seiko MM and even worn one for a few days as it passed thru me on its way to Greece.  It is a very solid, well built watch, but from and aesthetics standpoint, is not much different than any other Seiko Diver.

Bottom line....go for the Glycine!  BTW, have you seen the brand new Glycine Combat Sub Automatic...it is a beauty!

Christian I am in the Glycine camp. Speak with Beth C. at World Lux where you cribbed the photo and you might be pleasantly surprised at what she can do for you. Tell her I sent you and you'll get nothing extra!! She'll remeber me fromt he Alpina I purchased from her...

I think it depends how much variety you like.  The Marinemaster is similar to the black Sumo you already have, but the Glycine is more unique.  Personally I like variety so I'd go with the Glycine but on a bracelet (its always harder to buy a bracelet than a rubber strap later on).

Good luck - they are both beauties!

The SEIKO Marinemaster is my choice. I've had a few Glycine watches before and for some reason they didn't stay longer on my wrist nor my watch box:(

Goodluck on your decision...

This is gonna be a tough one...

This is one point FOR the Seiko, as it would easily slip into the watch box without the significant other noticing...

I'd prefer the Glycine. Like that dial. But you need a wrist that can wear the Glycine, because its really huge (otherwise I'd already have one - but it's too big).

I am not familiar with Glycine (other than seeing pics of members' watches) but if I had the $$$ a Marine Master (along with a Flightmaster) would be on its way to me from Japan!  Other than Russians and half a dozen Swiss divers, the majority of my collection is Seiko/Citizen.

Tough choice Christian, but I think either way you will get a great watch hand6.gif

Cheers,
Griff

Size shouldn't be the problem...
