Hi All, I have a watch on backorder (O&W Val.7750) and in true WIS fashion I need a new watch NOW :D I have narrowed my choice down to two "affordable" orange dive watches. First up, the orange Seiko "Sumo". New 6R15 hacking/handwinding movement, 20mm lugs, Hardlex crystal, date only, rubber strap (which is ok with me, the Sumo bracelet doesn't grab me and I am not a bracelet guy). Second, the O&W ID3077 orange diver. ETA 2824, 20mm lugs, sapphire crystal, date only, bracelet (which I may or may not replace with rubber or nylon). Both are around the same price and have unique looks not common to other diver watches in my collection. This will be my last diver for awhile as I have run out of room in my watch boxes and money in my watch fund! My next planned purchase won't be until the Orsa black/yellow Monstrum. What do you guys think? The dive watch folks seem to like the new Seiko, and I haven't heard much about the O&W. Everytime I order an O&W it is on backorder, I never got the last one I ordered (M-6) as it was no longer available with sapphire/no cyclops so I got a refund and bought the O7 G-1. Thanks in advance for your opinions! Cheers, Griff

Well Seiko is cool I have the Samurai LE and Orange Monster but often will go for a Swiss movement watch ahead of anything else on my list if available at a good price. I don't have a O&W watch but the ID3077 looks cool. I'd probably lean that direction first if not on backorder. But either one is a great choice for sure. ;)

Going strictly on aesthetics...imho... go with the Orange Sumo... the O&W orange seems more reddish then the Seiko... hand6.gif

If the Sumo has the hand winding/hacking movement, then it is my first choice by a landslide. Better lumn, better made, better re-sale, and you could argue - better looking.

Griff.........I know you already have the Orange ZENO, otherwise Matt's suggestion would have been the "primo" answer...so go for the Seiko SUMO. The 6R15 is an equivalent mov't to the ETA 2824-2...and the SUMO looks a hell of a lot better...just replace that gawdawful (JMO) Seiko rubber Z strap. OR you could just save up a little longer and get an orange dial ENZO!

Thank you for your comments guys, I appreciate it! After lots of thinking (kept me up half the night, no I am not obsessive compulsive, LOL) and reading your comments I just sent an inquiry to Katsu-san for the Seiko. Thank you for the suggestion Matt, as Ken noted I have the Zeno and love it (and bought it after seeing his on the forums)! Pax, the O&W chrono is on order from Anders. Howard has the orange O&W on his site, and so does Kenny at Freda. Ken, I would go for the Enzo but the WIS impulse is out of control, save money, it is burning a hole in my pocket, arrrrrrgh! :D If the Sumo is backordered, then I need a watch while I am waiting for a backordered watch bought while waiting for a backordered watch! I love being a WIS (though my wife wishes I go back to Zippos, heh). Thanks again! Cheers, Griff
