I just wanted to share the fact that I met Ron Sabo today. I spent my weekend at the Wannemachers Gun Show and Ron had several tables set up there. I spent probably 20-30 miutes talking to him about different things. He seems like a really good guy that wants to put out an excellent product. He even complimented me on my watch, which I thought was nice. Apparently, I was one of the few people he saw that was wearing something other than asian produced stuff. He had quite a bit of his product on hand that I got to look at. I was impressed with the quality. He even had a couple of one-of-a-kind pieces that were pretty darn nice. I'm definately going to purchase something from him in the future. It really helps to see a product first hand. |

Ron is very difficult to get ahold of via phone or email (from my experience) but he does sell a nice product. I recommend the watches, but the customer service has always left me with a sour taste. |

You're the first person I've heard say that. I think all the things I've read have been positive, but I know nothing's perfect. |

I know he wasn't having a good show and made reference to the fact that he'd be better off at home taking care of business. Is the crappy CS a recent thing? Maybe he's just got a lot on his plate and is having trouble keeping up. |

I was made aware about trying to get in contact with the owner, ron was difficult. I made contact to purchase another gmt pvd and all went smooth, so I thought it was isolated? My watch wasnt shipped when he said it was, I tried to make contact with no reply, I did this a few times, I finally threatened to cancel my credit card order and he got ahold of me real quick, he had a story? Watch came all was good. I contacted him again for some ideas and some wants and no reply, I tried again about 5 times via phone messages and emails. To this day has never returned my call, so now I dont and wont do business with Ron again. I have not quite figured out why when a person has a good business and he has orders, why cant he just simplify things by putting a good self explanatory web site up so he doesnt have to be bothered by the calls and emails? It's starting to sound like the cases of good CS are isolated not the norm. I'm actually a little disenheartened to hear that,:(, as I was considering making a purchase during Xmas while home on leave. |

Sure thing Tony. I just don't know yet how long I'll have at home during that timeframe. It might only be 8 days but could be 2 weeks. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I already know that I need patience because my bank account doesn't come anywhere near to my wish list.:D |

Ron doesn't seem to have anyone to answer his phone when he is out of own. I called and left a message that I was interested in one of his Railroad Standard watches and it took him two weeks to call me back. After I talked to him, I had the watch and an extra strap in two days. The watch was a bargain for sure but you had better have something else to wear while waiting for him to return your call. I don't know why he doesn't set up automatic ordering on his web sight. |

I would, but I just got married and my wife is already pregnant. My bank account is near empty, I blew money at the gun show on items I'm taking to Iraq and the wife will f-ing kill me if I buy another watch or gun right now. It took her about 3 months to get over me buying my Seamaster and that was cause she found out what her dad and younger brother's watches cost. Quite simply, my eyeballs are bigger than my wallet right now. Xmas time I can probably sweet talk her into letting me get something.:) |

Where else do you go? Is it his product or something else? I want to explore my options for similar product at a reasonable price. |

If it's the watches you are after he is obviouosly the best source although I believe some models can be purchased through West Coast Time which has a link in the 3T Friends section. I would also keep my eyes on http://www.elitedealseeker.com/index.cgi?category=watches for a bargain on the secondary market. I was personally referring to straps which he has in abundance and a rock bottom prices!! I've got one I grabbed o the secondary market and it has been pain free... ![]() |

Thanks Pax. He definately had a ton of straps at rock bottom prices at the show. I tried to do a deal with Howard over at West Coast Time, but other than initially, he wasn't very communicative. I waited several days for a reply with price quote w/shipping, and it never appeared. I decided to go with one of Bergs Mil-type watches. |

I was especially in a time crunch, I become a federal troop at midnight tonight and I leave the 25th of this month for my deployment. I didn't know what effect this timetable would have on shipping so asked for a total price quote. I never got the quote. I think my case is the exception not the rule because I've read too many good posts about dealing with him. I will try again in the future. I definately wasn't yanking his chain. I been wanting to deal with him for some time now since he is the only dealer I've found stateside with the particular O&W that I wanted. Last edited on Sun Oct 21st, 2007 09:43 pm by murphy j |

I'm not trying to beat up on Howard. Just doing my best to relate what happened as factually as possible.:) Thanks Hucky. I won't actually be in country for a couple of months. Got some training to do beforehand. I will DEFINATELY do what I can to bring me and my guys home in one piece and breathin only through the orifices that god gave us. Haji is a different story; he can have all the mythical virgins he wants.:D |

Well, it seems I am late to the party. Ron definitely has quality merchandise at a very good price. I have one of his watches (a Marine Diver) bought thru a 3rd party. I have bought many straps from him and Many deployant clasps which I think are an awesome deal, but as many have said, the CS is an issue. Sometimes I get my purchase in 4 days...sometimes in 4 weeks. Email responses are extremely slow, and on occasion, billing errors are made which can only be redeemed as future purchases! So, with Ron, you need to know what you are in for. I believe he is honest, bit inefficient! I would hate to have to deal with him on a CS issue on a big ticket item! BTW...thank you for your service to our country!!! It is appreciated! |

I bought an IW Black Ocean about two years ago that malfunctioned. Ron disputed the matter and in the end did not fix my problem (GMT hand wouldn't work). I ended up selling the watch at a nice loss. coyote2.gif Thanks Ron. I will never buy another IW watch and will only buy from someone who will stand behind his product. |

Thanks Ken. I appreciate everyones input on this subject; to include the thread hijack about West Coast Time. I like to deal in facts about a subject, and everyones personal experiences on the subject at hand help me, and others like me, make an educated decision. Thanks again for everyones input. |
