Graham, I think the few days you went without the chrono made you go haywire. That's a Zenith, not a Zodiac, amigosubtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gifsubtlelaugh.gif

Thanks!
Jeff, that Seiko looks like it can handle anything - and with that serrated bezel you can saw your way through the ice!subtlelaugh.gif

that s a nice watch Chris. I don't have a Tissot in my collection(actually I do, a pocket watch my wife gave me for one of our anniversary) but keep hearing good things and this seems to be a popular model. You like it? What mvt does it have?
Thx. B

Yes it is a quartz, Ronda Startech 5020.B; quite accurate and rugged movements IMO.

Thanks Brice...the Seastar 1000 runs on the very reliable, very smooth, Tissot signed ETA 2824.

I do like it...it is something different in my collection from the unique bezel to the funky hand style (lume is nothing to write home about however)...it has an off-center porthole sapphire display back...and since the rotor is Tissot signed and has a scuba diver design on the edge of the rotor, as the rotor spins around, the diver goes in and out of view of the caseback kind of like going through waves in the ocean face4.gifgoofy...ok, maybe just my interpretation, but I think it's cool....

...man, with all this discussion, I looked and I don't even have a caseback pic that I can throw out there for you to look at...

Stew77, is the caseback uncomfortable? I've heard mixed things about how it wears. Watchtime had an article a while ago, comparing the Tissot and a Tutima diver, stating that the Tissot was painful to wear.

Thanks Chris, I received it a few weeks ago and was waiting for the mesh bracelet to arrive...  I was very lucky to find this baby as it is.  It's all original, dial, hands, crystal, crown, pushers... The only thing not original on the watch is the case brushed finish, the gaskets (crystal gasket still original) and the dial has been relumed.  The original finish is a ribbed brush pattern and I found it impossible to get my hands on a nice one.  The movement as been completely serviced and the chrono second is at about +8sec a day (there is no second hand on this model besides the chrono) Which is quite amazing for a watch of it's age, and for a chrono IMHO...The job as been well done too, no sticky pushers and the day/date quick set, done with the crown, is working flawlessly, which are the main problems on most of these on the market. And more importantly, no pitting or corrosion on the movement.  The dial is very well conserved for it's age but I found a NOS that will replace this one. I just love this case shape :D

Wrath of Kwon,...the watch wears very comfortable to me with absolutely no discomfort at all even when I wear it all day long.

The porthole portion of the caseback is offcenter and does stick up from the flat portion of the caseback by ~ 1.5mm (porthole section is ~27mm in diameter compared to the flat portion of the caseback which is ~34mm in diameter).

I could see that, depending on how you wear your watches and how promenent one's wrist bone protrudes from the wrist contour, the porthole edge might be able to interfere with the edge of the wristbone...that might create some discomfort...no discomfort for me, however.

Thanks Grahamthankyou.gif.  Seiko had a lot of nice movements and case in that era, the 6138 is also one I'm looking for...Just too bad they don't make more Auto chronos for the foreign market these days.

Just got home and giving the Steinhart a well deserved rest. I usually never wear he same watch 3 days in a row. So far it's +6 seconds over the 3 days. This watch is just perfect for an everyday office watch!!
Anyway switched to this one to relax tonight, haven't given it wrist time in a while and the butter-soft super comfy Bali Hai Q strap
just begged to be worn:)

Graham/Daniel....The 6138, 6139 and 6139B movements are almost totally extinct. I've been hunting them down all over where I travel and sometimes I just get a grunt and a simple shrug of the shoulders from guys at 2nd hand stores and old watchsmiths. Even simple things like original mid '70s era hands are hard to get by. So take really good care of the vintage Seikos that you have.crap.gif
