I really like what you've got going here Scott...Great vintage look with this mod!
Looks like you aged everything from the case to the dial to the hands. Is that case blasted, or is that a cerakote or other coated finish? Looks great! (...and as always, that strap is absolutely perfect!).

Enjoy the weekend 3T

That's the stuff William! Take advantage of every opportunity to spend the quality time and create lasting memories man! Mine are 9 & 11 yrs old and I'm constantly feeling like we are in some kind of crazy timewarp...the days, months, and years seem to just be flying by.
...nice D-Date combo btw!

M daughter and I have always been close. Now she has her own family and memories are an important thing to fall back on. Create them and look back on them with fondness and loving thoughts as I do.

That's awesome William! Your daughter is beautiful!
I love spending time with my girls, can't get those Years back with them. They'll have those memories of time spent with you for ever and you're forming a strong bond with them. As my pastor says, kids spell "love": T-I-M-E :) good to set a time for them they look forward to.
My 13- yr old and I go to that kickboxing class every Saturday and she lOoks forward to it, so do I!! We always have prayer and "talk" time at bed time.... Whatever works ;)

Thanks!
I had intended to send the case to a shop for olive drab zinc chromate as a test. The guy told me many times over the last few months that he'd send samples and never did, so I figured he was not interested in the work. The ultimate goal was to have an Armida A1 case, crown, and bezel in OD green. I'd like to see an A1 offered in OD pvd with solid bezel, black hands, and black dial.
Since this was a free watch and is very low-end, I've been playing around with it. I brushed the case then sprayed it with flat OD paint, and baked it in a toaster oven...I have no illusions about the durability of the finish
I aged the hands: scuffed then hung out in the garden for a couple of months.
The dial was originally printed with Parnis and Mechanical if I remember...something like that...stripped and rattle-canned it. The lume is water-based that quickly gives an aged look but doesn't glow for beans.
Just a cheap watch goof on I guess :)Last edited on Sat Jan 28th, 2012 04:21 pm by timesofplenty |

Thanks for the extra details on this one Scott!!!
Heck...the piece looks extremely cool even though you have no illusions about the durability of the flat OD paint post-baked in a toaster oven no less! That OD zinc chromate coating sounds like a cool coating...I'll have to look that up.
Inspiring mod non-the-less, and so cool for a "cheap watch goof on" as you put it. Definitely gives me some ideas, especially when using a cheapy homage as a starting point.
Keep going with that Armida A1 idea...an all OD case, crown, and bezel would look uber cool!!!!
