Going with the monster today, not so shabby for a cheapo seiko imho. No Phillip standard on the photos this morning I`m afraid, as we are relying on a crappy Samsung Galaxy to document ...

Some call this a handwind El Primero.  A bit of a contradiction in terms, I'd say.
Zenith is definitely right up there with the big boys. Unfortunately some design blunders in the "Defy" era, but that is in the past.
I love this model, Jeff!

Much contradiction in fact Graham...
Zenith produce the El Primero(auto) caliber in 1969, stop the production during the quartz era and restart it in 84. The Elite caliber don't surface before 1994: First as an automatic version and soon after as a hand-wound alternative.
The Elite is beating at 28800bpm and the El Primero at 36000bpm.
The El Primero(420) hand-wound version seems to appear during the same period as the Elite caliber but the conception is very different as it is just a usual El Primero without it's automatic module.

It's a very cool tool kestrel!!!

It is so different than anything else that I have, and I'm liking it very much.  Another great one from Jason at Halios! thumbsup.gif

Big congrats to your newbie my friend !

This is a stunning unique divers time piece. wowzer.gif

I love the striking hand set of the puck !

For me, this case could have been a little may be higher. A thickness of 16-17 mm would be fine.

Enjoy your puck Chris !

I carefully coaxed the pins into the existing holes with a spring bar tool.

Now that I look at them, they are slightly bent now from the experience.

Phil...thanks my friend! thankyou.gif

Agreed...the hand set is killer, and the watch itself is very different than anything else I have.  You are right, could have gotten away with being a bit thicker...but I have to admit the 14.5mm thickness makes it very balanced on the wrist given the generous 47mm width dimension.

btw...love your Monstrum today too!  Such a cool piece by Orsa (I miss the blue one that I used to have), and one of the coolest casebacks ever!

I think if the watch would be higher, the ratio would be more balanced. But even so, it is a great watch, of course ! bravo.gif
I want to buy one too. But no $$$ at the moment. no.gif Two new incomings on its way sponge bob.gif!

Thankx for your kind words about my ORSA.
I love the creations from ORSA very much.

+1 The caseback is really outstanding !

Thanks for the kind words, Graham. You are so right about the "DEFY" era missteps. Those racy designs just weren't reflective of the Zenith soul. I'm glad that guy's not running the show anymore. Here's to 7,000, Bro!ThumbsUp02.gif
