You guys might remember that I was after a Sector Mountain Master awhile back and had my order cancelled.  Well, I found another one at a good price and pulled the trigger.  It is one big chunk o' steel:

It was hard to get a good pic, the LCD display is mirror like, and the backlight only illuminates the actual data, not the whole dial, very cool!  The build quality is good, not great so I am glad I got it at a decent price.  I'll never get used to a second hand that lines up on only half the dial even though I have a bunch of quartzies that do the same thing.  I am tempted to send it off to have the analog seconds hand removed, it is sort of superfluous anyway.  Of course, I was most interested in the data from the module.  I would compare it to my T-Touch or Pathfinder in terms of accuracy, my Suuntos, Nike and Highgear are a bit more accurate.  Still, it is great to have all these features in a nice steel case with a slide rule bezel, and I am a sucker for slide rule bezels!

The Sector is a full Altimeter/Barometer/Compass, with 1/100 sec chrono, 2 alarms plus ascent/decent and weather alarms, 2 time zones and temperature readout.  Thankfully it is programmable for Imperial units, the SI only ones I have (T-Touch, Citizen Aquamount, Nike analog altimeter) make it difficult to convert in my head.  I like the analog hands over the digital display, sort of a poor man's X-33 in a way.

I believe it is around 44mm, not sure of the lug size though Sector throws a nylon strap in with the deal.  I like it on rubber though I think it would look as cool on a nylon/NATO/Zulu style strap.

Overall I really like it and it will be in regular rotation with the rest of my ABC watches.

Cheers,
Griff

Very cool, Griff...and any local watchmaker should be able to remove that hand without having to send it off!

Very cool, Griff. With a nice grey NATO, it would make a good Ohio State watch.  yahoo.gif

Congrats Griff on the awesome Sector....I know you have been iso of one for some time!yourock.gif

...as for the second hand it can be removed but you have to remember it actually acts as a mechanism that holds the other 2 hands on the axis or stem that keeps the hour and minute hands from falling off under any kind of jarring or accidental dropping....the 2 larger hands sit on the axis via id holes over the axis and the second hand has a nipple/extension that inserts into a opening in the top of the axis hand6.gif

Thanks guys!

I probably will leave the second hand on and just ignore it :D  It's the perfectionist in me!

Cheers,
Griff
