Earlier this afternoon it was the first day off I had in
two weeks
. I wandered into a local pawnshop to see what goodies I could find.

There were the usual quartz operated
watches that no one seems to want,
but then my eyes were drawn towards a vintage
Candino. A 17 Jewel manual wind Incabloc with
the words Unbreakable Mainspring written on the
dial.

The watch measures 29 mm in width and 38 mm
in length with 16 mm lugs.
This one cost me $50 but the crystal is in clean
condition.

Thanks for the compliment, John.

So far the watch is keeping time,
but it will need a servicing in the
near future.

Cheers,
Simon

Performance Report:

Having to spend the day with
the Candino,it performed flawlessly.
There were no real surprises with the
watch,it kept time throughout the day.

It will need to go in for servicing
along with the Benrus,in short
I'm satisfied with the results.

What a nice find Simon. I wish that I could find nice items like that at such a good price. Let us know how things are after the service.

I will write up progress report
shortly after the servicing is complete.

For now, I want to let run for a few more
weeks to ensure that the watch is
maintaining accuracy.

The Benrus is running a little fast,
that's better than running slow.
It too needs to go in.

Historically speaking the Candino
is considered by 1950's standard as
a mid-size watch.

Cheers,
Simon
