I like the exotic markings on this classy watch: Definitly a dial with symbols you don't see on every wrists... At list in Europe. I've been reading that them movements are inspired by Citizen. Is this mechanical movement a pure Citizen or an inhouse inspired by Japanese technology? Thanks for posting

I've heard of these; but this is my first look at one. Is it new?

It has a vintage look to it.

This watch is made my one of the India's Leading watch manufacturer, HMT (Hindustan Machine tools).HMT (Hindustan machine tools) is a Public Sector conglomerate (government owned) company established in early 50s, is involved in various manufacturing activities, Like Machine Tools, Tractors, etc. and of course watches. They started their watch manufacturing activity in 1962, in technical assistance from Citizen of Japan, and they still use same technology to produce watches, their mechanical hand wound watches have Citizen caliber 0201 movement and mechanical auto uses Citizen Caliber 6500 movements. which have proved them selves in hostile conditions of India, for decades Hmt was a leader in watch manufacturing in India, with over 70% share. they have sold millions of watches in hundreds of designs, they have suffered badly from the quartz wave.
Wonder ful thing is that they manufacture their own movements in house.

This is a new watch. SS case and screw back. Movement is Citizen Caliber 0201 manufactured by HMT under licence from Citizen.

Interesting...Thanks for explaining! I would wish that they design them own movement: A 100% Made-in-India movementhand6.gif
It would certainly sell as a national pride: After all, the Indian market is huge!

Watch looks ok. What does "para schock" mean? How much water resist capability....30m, 50m? I assume the glass is mineral? Can you show a diver model?

Thanks for letting is WIS learn something about brands in your country.ThumbsUp02.gif

In this sens, "Para" would go as "Protect against": As the same in "Parachute". "Chute" meaning "Fall" in French. The term "Para" is originating from the Greek and can mean "Aside" also, as in "Paranormal" for ex.

Interesting and thank you for the background information on the mark.thankyou.gif I love the simplicity and durability here and value the legibility. The red seconds hand is a nice touch.

Very interesting and classy looking pieces. That second one looks a little shoddy with the applied markers though.

Hi Hammerfjord,
This watch is new and as it came from showroom condition.

In fact dials are hand painted/ lumed, not printed, these watches are made in  same way they were made in 50s, it may look bit shoddy, in this close up shot, but look very nice on wrist.

All the Best

AkshayB....of all the HMTs you've showcased, I think this is the one I like best. Workmanship looks much better although I can't tell if the hands have bevelled edges to catch light reflections....in place of lume. Can you show a picture at an angle so I can see the hands' edges. ThanksThumbsUp02.gif

Very classic looking watches...reminiscent of some of the Hamiltons and other American watches of the 50's and 60's

The vintage look is interesting but I think I would prefer a Timex. I wonder what the quality is like?

No sir you are missing my point. Please feel free to explore the site and share your watches with us. The daily watch u wearin' is a great place to show us the variety of the watches you've collected and enjoy on a daily basis. ThumbsUp02.gif

If you just keep adding to this thread it will get too long and no one will see what's buried in it.mistake.gif
