I don't think I'll be getting many watches during 2011, as I've been very happy with my current collection of watches.  However, the first watch of this new year arrived pretty early, in the form of the Seiko SDGA001.  It is a digital watch that uses an e-ink display.  I had been interested in it every since its announcement, and after doing as much research as I can on it, I decided it has enough going for it to pull the trigger on one.

It is definitely not for everyone, and I think it needs to be worn by someone with a lot of patience, given the slow refresh rate of the display when navigating its functions, but I think it is a pretty striking watch.  The e-ink display looks great, and if the refresh rate can match LCD someday, I can see it being the standard in the future.

Anyway, I'm really happy with it despite the fact that the technology has lots of room for improvement.

Pretty good bracelet with a machined clasp

Thanks guys!

@Tony: Yes, it is indeed showing 10:24.party.gif

@Oscar: The e-ink display looks really nice IMHO, with very high contrast and clarity (basically just like it's printed on a piece of paper).  Combined with the sapphire crystal, it makes for a high quality looking display.
