I got the email from Kaz yesterday with the FedEx tracking #, logged-on this AM and almost wore out the f5 key.

So here she is, what a wonderful watch!

The strap is one of mine, the buckle a Simona that I treated with liver of sulphur:

Cool! Please explain "a liver of sulphur" for those of us who barely passed general chemistry.

Liver of sulfer (sulphur) wiki:

Sulfurated potash is a poorly defined mixture of potassium sulfide, potassium polysulfide, potassium thiosulfate, and probably potassium bisulfide. Synonyms include hepar sulfuris, liver of sulfur, and sulfurated potassa.

Liver of sulfur is mainly used in metalworking to form a patina, turning copper alloys brown or black.

Typically liver of sulfur comes in a dry rock form which must be broken into smaller pieces and dissolved in hot water for use.

Here's the "stuff", it's mixed with water and the result varies with ratio of compound to water, temperature of water, and duration of apllication.

Major envy, mate.

Beautiful combo with your choice of strap. The Kaz is one of the brass watches which I prefer clean and pristine and without too much "patina" - it just looks so "right" straight out of the box, new and fresh.

It is a strikingly nice watch, sir.

Congratulations!

Scott...Big congrats on the Bronze Kazimon 1500!!!party.gifThumbsup3.gif

That is an absolutely killer combination on your perfectly constructed strap and the Simona buckle (complete with you very adventurous liver of sulfer finished buckle!!!!).  Sort of looks like you did some additional hand finishing on the buckle after the liver process...and it really turned out spectacular!!!thumbsup.gif

...are you adventurous enough to consider trying the liver of sulpher process on that beautiful case???  I am a huge fan of Bronze cased watches and probably have more than my fair share.  I have used the 'egg process' to add a bit of patina, but have never been brave enough to venture into the liver process which I know can be very quick and very aggressive.

Enjoy it Scott!!!!

Thanks, William! After the initial "base-coat" I'm leaving it to the elements; I think it's wearing in nicely:

Nicely done Scott!...thumbsup.gif...agree, a great base "coat" to get the patina off to a great start.  Love that incredible 1500 case which is so well done by Kazim!!!

Great looking job on the bronze. The patina appears so natural as if due to aging and exposure. Really nice!

Outstanding everything, Scott. I have to chime in with Chris and glad you did some alchemy on that case. Hard to tell what I like better....bare or treated. Big Congrats and enjoy it in good health for a long time, amigoThumbsUp02.gifThumbsUp02.gifThumbsUp02.gif

Dangerous pictures Scott.  I don't think I've openly lusted after a watch in a long time, but the patina you managed to generate is drool worthy...

That is impressive. I would love to know more about how you did that. I would be tempted to give it a try.

nice, but I have one question isn't the bronze caseback irritating your skin instead of a stainless steel caseback ?

The bronze doesn't irritate my skin, but it did leave dark marks. I sprayed the back with rattle-can clear but it didn't last and started to flake/chip off, so I removed it. My solution was to make a strap for the watch so it doesn't touch the skin:
