Tonight was a good night. As a group, a large portion of our Platoon went out for dinner and drinks. I had a lot of Crown n Coke/Makers Mark n Coke. We had an excellent dinner at a place called 'Barribas' then went to a 'bar n grill'type establishment called G2 for more drinks. It was an excellent time as a group and really gave us a feel for how mature we are as individuals. Most of us comported ourselves really well, while others had some difficulty. We all did well enough that we didn't get kicked out of either place we went to. Overall it was a really good time for all. I'm looking forward to doing it again Sat. in civilian clothes:D.
Sounds good. I have many fond memories of going out with many from my last division in the Navy. A very close nit group. Glad you have had the experience and may you have many more such good times. ;)
Thanks Skip. It was a good time for all. It wasn't my first experience of that sort, but it was the first one here. We've been high n dry for all of our training here, and now that the training is done it was good to cut loose a little. We even had one place ask if we were going to tear the place up :D. We said 'NO', we're just looking for a place to chill out. Everybody behaved themselves well enough that we may get to do it again Sat.
I've got a lot of great memories like that. I sure miss the Army. Feb 18th will make 8 years since I left. Be safe, be well, and trust in your brothers because anywhere you go, the people around you become family.
Mike, I had 6 1/2yrs Active Duty with an 8yr break in between. I know what you mean when you say it can be like a family. I've also seen my fair share of knuckleheads and I'd say we have a pretty good group.
