The better half was thinking of getting an I Phone for herself

For those that are in the Know----

When using all the goodies  that the i phone can do

Hows the battery life
Hows the monthly bill
Hows the dropped calls

Any pros and cons are greatly appreciated

Thanks

Off to work

Don't have one myself, as I only use a cell phone for phone calls...that said, there is a wealth of information that can be googled...both pro and con!

FWIW, my Wife has one and LOVES it. She had a blackberry before. She finds the iPhone more intuitive. Just easier to use overall.

Battery life has been good so far. Calls I get from her are clear, etc. The phone is a blast to use - gets the Internet, emails, even Youtube. Of course you can also listen to music and watch movies.

She also uses the camera a lot. The pictures it takes are quite good. She now doesn't take her Canon on trips most of the time.

Dropped calls, etc. don't seem to be a problem. No better or worse than with her blackberry.

Be advised that a NEW APPLE 3G phone is due out very soon. Supposedly this month or next. Apple online is sold out of the current phone in the U.S. and in the U.K. in anticipation of the new models introduction.

My kid brother and his girlfriend have it and rave about how much they like it.

My kid bro dose not give anything a nod unless he thinks it's good. ;)

Not to rain on your parade but they are getting very hard to find. The second gen will most likely be announced on the 9th in Jobs keynote speech. And if you can find a 1st gen I would wait as a large number of upgrades/improvrments are expected.

You are right on correct. The current phone is all but gone except for some refurbs and unsold inventory at various AT&T stores. Jobs will most likely intro it next week. The new phone is supposed to have some 3g chip and a bunch of improvements.

Just received a email from a buddy of mine. As soon as the 2ed gen of the I-Phone goes on sale he is jumping on one for himself and his wife. He got to see a demo someplace. Not sure if he meant online or in person but he is jazzed. The way he went on about it I am now thinking about maybe getting one.

Just something to think about.  I don't know if there is that much difference between the 1st and 2nd generation.  Of course it is faster...  So they say.  But how often  will  you be able to take advantage of the 3g is the question.  And it has gps.  I don't know if you need that.  The phone is also cheaper.  Except they are raising the rates to use it.  So, you might want to do the math.  The 2nd gen starts at 199 but the rate increase will cost you 240 more dollars over the next 2 years and that is without messaging added in.  I've been on the fence myself. But, I am very very satisfied with my blackberry.  The only downfall is the mobile web.  Blackberry messenger can't be beat.  I am on the old tmobile plan.  So it only cost me $20 bucks a mo.  They have since increased it.  If/when I have to upgrade and they want to charge me more for the plan I'll probably switch.  Good luck and let us know how it works out.

I read an article on yahoos page the other day explaining the costs of the new ipone vs the old iphone and the monthly plan at 2 years cost a little more? Bastads

Old Phone was 399-499 original release  60.00 monthly 2 years

New Phone is 200.00 70.00 monthly 2 years

You end up paying more for the new phone than the old when its said and done

You got to luv marketing, Im a sheep, lead me to your leader

Anybody who has an Iphone and uses all its goodies? What does  your montly bill look like????

Thanks

I don't have one but it was/is for now $20 a month for the data plan.  Soon to be $30.  If you don't need the 3g and you don't need the gps.  Sign up now.  Hurry, run.  Anway gotta mow the lawn.  Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaater.
