Sorry to drop a bombshell:

However, things at my personal life has hit an obstacle as I am faced with hearing loss in my right ear.  I don't think of it as a hindrance but certainly it is a life changing event.   I don't consider myself to be a religious person but rather I am more of a spiritual person,in knowing that if it weren't for God there wouldn't be the existence
of mankind.

I have no pity towards myself nor do I want pity from friends and family.
On the other hand, there is uncertainty about my career few  people know of my condition, only close friends. Those who don't know,no need to know.

I guess all those years working in a noisy kitchen has taken it's toll on me,but I have nothing to complain about for it is for the love and the enjoyment that was the reason as to why it took so long for me to move forward.

I hold no anger towards myself  but at times it is frustrating that I can't hear properly.

I wish to thank everyone in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Simon

Will send up a prayer for ya Simon. There is always something around the corner to change our lives. Deal with it head on and move ahead.

I'm a disabled veteran. Back in 1993 I thought life was as good as over do to my health conditions. Well treatment, retraining and redefining who I am I beat the odds big time. There is a old saying. "Where there's a will there's a way" The ball really is in your court. ;)

I believe that life throws us these little tests to see how we will handle them.  also from what i have read from your posts in the past i think that you will overcome and end up on top.

The test result from yesterday morning has confirmed that a 15% hearing loss has occurred, but it is too soon to tell if further deterioration will occur at this point in time.

Thanks to everyone who gave me encouragement.

Cheers,
Simon

Will keep a good thought for you, Simon.  Wise words from Skip.  Sometimes these doors close just so others can open.

I'll keep you in my thoughts, Simon. As someone who has had life changing events occur physically I can tell you you will adapt and all will be good. Hang tough!

Hello Simon,

I am sorry to learn of your difficulty.  Like others have said, keep on plugging.

Bill

I don't consider my infliction as a disability. Rather it has allowed me to understand my situation in a different light. The German Composer Ludwig von Beethoven, wasn't born deaf, his hearing began to deteriorate when he was 30 years old.

I am still amazed by the strength and courage of Beethoven, to produce works such works as the Moonlight Sonata, Fur Elise, Symphonies No.1-9. Chamber music, Missa Solemnis,Fidelio and Various Concertos.

The words spoken by Franz Grillparzer at Beethoven's Funeral on March 26,1827,is a testament to Beethoven's genius as composer.

Like a giant sweeping across the sea,
He storms through the frontiers of his eyes.
Those who come after him cannot continue,but must begin a fresh;
For he reached where art itself ends.

I too have my own strength through spirituality. On my desk at home I have the
JPS Translation of the Jewish Study Bible, The Septuagint in Greek,
KJV Reference Bible, KJV Holy Bible 1611 Edition,NRSV Holy Bible,ESV Holy Bible, NIV Holy Bible,NASB Holy Bible and the  Foxe Book of Martyrs.

I love collecting things rather being watches,
cameras or books.  It is a way to learn and to appreciate each object with care.

What I do have is that God has provided me with the knowledge to understand the world around me, which is more than any material object that one could possess.
Yes, I am faced with adversity but I don't pity myself nor do I want those closest to me to pity me in my moment of crisis. This is a challenge that God has given me, the same challenge He gave to Job in the Old Testament.

I have no anger in my heart.
