Out here if I hung balls of ground beef on the trees, I'd have a bunch of coyotes and/or havalinas in no time scrapping for the prize. I'll stay indoors!:D |

It's an ugly, smelly wild desert pig (basically). They have big bodies and skinny legs. They usually run around our neighborhood at dusk in family groups of 3-4 up to 8 or so. |

Thanks, for the Info! Are they dangerous, or do you turn them into barbecue? Barton |

They aren't dangerous unless they have "little ones" to protect. Then its best to stay away. Mostly they eat peoples flowers and such when they stray into populated areas. Last edited on Wed Jun 7th, 2006 06:30 pm by mcwright |

In Tucson, we spell it with a "J"............Javelina (AKA Javalina)! Here's some info (more than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure)..............and I beg to differ with Mr. Wright, but they can be very dangerous. http://www.hunting-in-texas.com/javelina-info.htm http://www.desertusa.com/magnov97/nov_pap/du_collpecc.html Last edited on Wed Jun 7th, 2006 07:34 pm by KenC |

Javelina (AKA Javalina) is the CORRECT spelling. They spell it that way in Phoenix/Scottsdale too except for one clueless citizen. :D:D:D |

I had a computer teacher back in high school in Flagstaff(beautiful woman, first teacher crush for me ) who used to bow-hunt javelinas every year with her husband down by Phx somewhere. I've only seem them once in 15 years in AZ, trotting along I-10 just north of Picacho(?) Peak. Mama pig and her 5 little ones. I'd never go near one, I always heard they were dangerous too. |
