This PC thing has been a nightmare.  I was upgrading all of the computers to XP Pro....everything went fine until I got to mine and the hard drive failed in the middle of it.  I had just backed up all of my email & important Word, Excel, Access files, all of my family pictures and most of my watch picture, but I did not back up my address book and favorites list and a few other things that can be easily rebuilt but it is time consuming.

You may have noticed that I have fired BillGates (the "techie" version of algore) and required him to turn over the reins of Microsoft by 2008.........that said, while I've been gone, I noticed that you all (or specifically "all y'all) have been evil, wicked, mean and nasty in your comments about my dilemma .............and those are your redeemimg qualities  :D.  Now, you really will need border security!!!!

Actually, a bit of both. The MAC OS is harder to mess with. But, that doesn't mean someone can't do it. There are now three worms out there for the Mac. So, it can be done.

Serious question, if they can run windows OS is there more of a problem or is the bios still the same basicly?  Have been learning about Macs since yesturday, but still way behind the curve.

The terminology is all different. bios = pram on a Mac. Or it used to anyway. I don't have a new Intel machine. I have a G-5 with the older processor series.

As for running Windows on a Mac, get the latest MacWorld magazine which has a feature article on the subject. Be advised that right now (anyway) the ability to run Windows is via a BETA program. Later this year there will be more coming from Apple on this whole deal.

You can run Microsoft Office (the Mac Version) and it is fully compatible with the PC version. That's assuming you and the other person (on the PC) have the same fonts installed.

Note: The Mac version of Office does not have Access. It comes with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage (Mac version of Outlook).
